I´m a newbie so if this question sounds stupid im sorry.

I like to add a movie twice to my database. But if I try to enter the second movie DVD Profiler tells me, that the movie is already in my database!

How can I bypass this?

Thnx for your help.

You can't put the same UPC/EAN in the program twice.  This is by design.

I think you can add the second one by Disc ID (Menu: DVD | Add to Collection | Add Inserted Disc).  You may have to uncheck the "Download profile from Invelos" box to make this work.

Welcome to the party.
Bad movie?  You're soaking in it!

What I usually do is enter the information about the second copy into the Notes field:

Title, UPC, Date Purchased, Purchase Price, Where Purchased.

I also have a Tag set up to indicate "Duplicate Copy"

While you could enter the second copy by Disc ID, unless you use Profiler to keep track of DVDs you lend to friends, there may not be any reason to include two complete profiles for the same title.

BTW: I'm not trying to start any arguments, as I know some people feel strongly that they need to be able to track multiple copies.  All I'm saying is that you MAY only need to keep the info on the duplicate in the Notes field.

The reason for me to do this is that I have some movies with different front covers! So these are not illegal copies but in one case from different duplication studios but with the same EAN code!

So when I enter the ean on the first one everything is fine.
Do I want to enter the second one, the message comes up saying I do have already this movie in my database.

If that´s the case I have to do it manually. I thought I could go round that.

Thanks for your answers.

As you gain experience with Profiler and your database grows, you also have the option to use "Plugins". If your collection goes above 50 profiles, you will need to register to use plugins. Then, you can do some things automatically. For example, my plugin BulkEdit can clone one or more profiles in seconds to be exact copies of the originals, using a "Manual Profile" ID. Based on what you have said, you would then still need to update the cover art manually.

And now that I think about it, version 3.5 has a new feature that helps. You can create a manual profile - manually. Then, in 3.5 you can copy the contents of another profile into it. This can be done without plugins, but one at a time. So, lots of options are available.
Thanks for your support.

you can add the same movie - same UPC code,  as long as you change the locality.. change it to anything you feel comfortable with.. Just keep it LOCALE ..

A valid reason that hadn't occurred to me.  So for you, annotating the Notes field won't work.
