I went looking through the Options of the program, but I couldn't find an answer.  I'd like to save all the profiles for the DVDs in my collection on a portable hard drive.  That way I can easily bounce back and forth between a laptop and a desktop.  I can see where I can export the collection, but I don't see where I'd be able to change the location of where the data is saved automatically.  Is this possible?

Yes it is possible.
You'd have to create a new database via DVDProfiler menu "File -> Open database ..." here you can choose the location of the database. After creating the new database the original can be deleted.

EDIT: Make sure your portable HDD has a fixed drive letter (e.g. F:\) otherwise DVDProfiler will not be able to find the database.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

also, when you create the new database you can choose to copy all the profiles from the current database to the new one.
