I'm fairly new with DVD Profiler, so there may be an easy way to do this that I just have not found yet.
This would be for my local collection only.
I want to track (remember) which of my DVDs I once owned but have sold or traded-in, and also the rentals we have watched.
I want the ones I had owned to show in the "all" tab since I had at one time owned them, but not to show in the "owned" tab since I no longer have them.
I don't want the rentals to show up in my "all" or "owned" tab, but be able to see and list them somewhere.
For now I am just using "ordered" for tracking sold or traded and "wish list" for tracking rentals. Is there a better way or can I add new tabs?

Unfortunately, I don't think Profiler can do what you want, how you want it to.  You can't rename the tabs or add any (it's a frequent request, but there is another feature that helps).  As far as I know, you can't prevent everything in the Owned/Wishlist/Ordered tabs from showing up in the All tab.

I think most people just "reuse" a category for what they want...ie: instead of "ordered" dvds, you could use it as a sold tab, but the name would stay the same.

That brings me to another feature that many people use instead of different tabs...the tag system.  You can create as many tags as you want...you can even layer them, if that makes sense.  A category within a category.  But, you would have to use one of the 3 main tabs.

Or, you can certainly have more than one database.  You can use one database as the current one and one for the ones you've sold/traded.  The main limitation on this is that you can only upload to the online database, one of your databases, but I don't think that would effect you much as you're keeping everything local.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Lori
I have thought about using different databases, and that makes a lot of sense to do that for tracking rentals since they are not a real part of my collection.
If I use a different database for sold or traded ones, is there any way to flag the sold ones and move them to that other database, or do I have to tag them as "sold" and re-enter them?

That I don't know.  I personally just use one...thought about tracking dvds I've watched/rented, but decided not to.  My instinct is to say, no, you'd have to manually move them to the other database.  Don't think they're interactive.

If you want to move some profiles to another database, you can flag them. Then do File / Backup. The backup process allows you to backup only flagged profiles. Then you would restore that partial backup to a new database.

Thanks James, I'll try that out.

How does everbody else handle sold dvds? I know I can't be the only one who sells off or trades them, but wants to remember which ones I used to have.

I keep them all.  Even the ridiculous ones...  It's a sickness, I think.
