Hi,

I was recently given a DVD which I already owned.  I'd like to add it to my Collection list with the only difference being in the Disc Location field.

When I try to Add the DVD i get an "already owned" message and am unable to add it.

Any suggestions?

You cannot use the same identifier twice.

What you can do, is to add one copy by UPC/EAN and the other by DiscId (insert the DVD into your DVD-ROM and switch to the tab "Add by Disc".

You can also add it as "manual profile". Switch to "Add by Title" and uncheck "Download from Invelos" on the lower left side.

That will only work if the profile exists in the database with the disc id. Just because you add by disc doesn't mean that it uses the disc id instead of the UPC. If there is no profile set up by disc id you will need to create it.

providing you have a dvd drive in your computer. Easiest way would be to
1) put the disc into your dvd rom drive. (if you have the drive set up with dvd profiler it will highlight the profile if it has the disc info set up)
2) with the profile highlighted selected DVD from the file menu and then choose change UPC
3) check the box that says use inserted disc (or something similar) and click ok
4) the profile will now be identified by disc id and you can re-add the title by UPC

if this is a box set and the disc id is already used by something else you would need to use the manual profile method or just grab a different version of the movie (add by title) just don't contribute any changes you make to that one.

Hi,

" 2) with the profile highlighted selected DVD from the file menu and then choose change UPC"

I haven't been able to locate the option to change the UPC.  Could you help me out, please?

Depending on what language you have Profiler installed in, a UPC is also known as EAN. Do you have a Change EAN option?

Edit: I believe it should be near the bottom of the DVD menu.

confirmed as northbloke says:
profiler menu: DVD > at the bottom is the option to change the EAN/UPC
Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. Please include the sources for your changes in the contribution notes, especially for cast and crew additions.
