I had DVD Profiler before a long time ago with an early ver. 2 When adding dvds by name, I could click preview and in a matter of 1 - 2 second it would bring up the preview so that I could make sure I was adding the version with the most accurate cast and such. Now, when I click on a listed DVD on the ADD menu and click preview, it sits for several second, at least 10 - 15, before it even starts trying to connect to bring up the preview. It then takes another 10 - 15 to connect and bring the preview up. It seems weird to me that what took ~2 seconds on the old version now takes closer to 30 second. Is this normal?

Edit: It now only takes 1 - 2 second once the connection box comes up in order to download the profile; however it is still taking 10 - 15 second before it even bring up the connection box.

may be depending on the time and from where you are surfing on the net. (lot of traffic from your location to the USA. Could see if a ping plotter or simular program gives you an answer to this.
there is a big load on the online database (Collection Profiles: View/Submit Links). Somtimes the website and the database is flying, somtimes it is a pain in the buttocks.

I could understand that for the time it takes once it is looking to connect. My problem is more that it takes quite a while before the "Connecting to Database" screen even comes up to even begin to start the download.

check if you need to work with the proxy server of your internet provider? If so go to the DVD Profiler menu:
  • Tools
  • Options
  • Online (Lefthand at the middle
  • try first Alternate Connection Method
  • if that did not work fill in the proxy server settings for your intern service provider
  • Check also if
  • your firewall lets dvd profiler trough
