I've been reading some posts recently that discuss "Head Shots" and i'm not sure what they are. I was looking through DP and noticed you can add an image for a particular cast member or crew member. I assume that you can do this for every cast & crew member you have in your dvd collection. Is there a database for these head shots or do you use google to look for a picture of every cast and crew member that are in your collection. If this is the case you folks must sit at your pc's around the clock and spend more time with DP than you do watching the movies you own. I wouldn't mind having these images in DP but i just can't see how you would add them all unless you looked for them all 1 by 1 and there would be thousands of them. Don't know about you all but i'm not servng a 20 year sentence for murder and have that sort of time to spend,  so there must be a db someplace ?

??? Hmmmm

There is the Headshot Master Database project. You can find the threads in the general discussion sub forum. (Use Search for older versions and threads)

Last thread where you can find links to many sites: http://www.invelos.com/Forums.aspx?task=viewtopic&topicID=195458
Actual thread: http://www.invelos.com/Forums.aspx?task=viewtopic&topicID=249640

But until tomorrow the version 4 will release and a new thread will start.

Many thanks Armand for the time you took preparing your reply, nice info. I'm always running across new features in DP. I needed to know alot of the things i know now when i only had a few hundred a couple years ago.

No Problem and when you press the green arrow, I will become a star. ;-)

I have collected many headshots and I am impatient waiting for the version 4. Then (after the very long keep/accept process) I will add many new Headshots and add the birth year to all persons where this year is known. Version 4 needs a long time, 5 will come soon.

When I started with DP I had already a few hundred DVDs. I need many steps until I have found my actual work process and the functions I use today. You will find new functions, plug-ins, too.

if you do this then ensure
1) You never contribute crew / cast to the online database
2) You are aware that when v5 of the headshot database arrives, none of these will match with what you already have. ie you will get headshots for people without a birthyear
3) Never contribute to the headshot database

- that should basically cover it.

In regards to #1, they can contribute cast/crew - Invelos will display a confirmation for unknown BY's in which they should leave unchecked to not submit the BY.

I've setup phpmyprofiler and need the headshots so i may ftp them into them into "Cast" directory to enable the "People Gallary" feature that phpmyprofiler has. I have been unable to locate where DP stores them. I feel they may be in a file that the DP uses.

DP stores them in its database. AFAIK, there is no non-trivial way of extracting them.

There isn't any simple way of getting them all out of the Internal database - you need to store the headshots in a separate directory as JPG files and then upload these to the appropriate directory which PHPdvdprofiler uses

I found out how to get them. You have to install a program by Tom Gaines that will accept the collection.xml from DP. Once you loaded the .xml you can then download Headshots for the titles that are in your collection from his database and then upload those files.

Fred Looks. I love phpdvdprofiler and have been using it for years. Recently i've been out of work due to an injury and have alot of free time and wanted to do something and when i learned that the other scripts will allow external links that the new DP uses it seemed like a fun thing to spend my time on. I spent alot of time editing the color palet of you scripts and have a beautiful page. I'm storing both on my hosts server.  There are benifts to both scripts and it's educational playing around with different versions of PHP and MySQL and learning their limitations. What i've learned is nothing based on what you know but fun just the same.
