I purchased DVD Profiler back in Jan 2000 (an excellent product that I highly recommend).  I have always enjoyed reading through these forums and have found a lot of help and tips that make the program even nicer to own.

Unfortunately I have recently run into a problem that I cannot seem to resolve.  I have searched through the forums and have not found an answer that works in my situation.  When I run the latest version of DVD Profiler (3.1.1 Build 1171) the text is missing from the buttons (please see link examples).

My system is a Dell XPS 720 running Windows XP Professional (Version 5.1.2600.3093) Service Pack 2.
My monitor is a Dell 2407WFP
My video card is a 768MB Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTX

My DPI setting is 'Normal Size' (96 DPI)
Resolution is set at 1920X12000 (Color quality 'Highest 32 bit')
Also tried resolutions of 1680X1050, 1600X1200, and 1280X1024
Screen refresh rate is 60 Hertz

Things I have attempted to resolve this problem (without success):
Complete uninstall of all DVD Profiler programs
Complete reinstall of DVD Profiler 3.1.1 (I uninstalled and reinstalled three times - at least)
Have tried all different themes (Blue, Silver, Olive, Luna, etc.)
Updated Nvidia driver with latest driver (dated May 2008)
I'm not running widowblinds or any other "enhancements" that might cause this
Ran DVDProDBRepair.exe which completed successfully (I didn't think this would help a display problem but got to the point I was trying anything!)

I have not experienced this problem with other software.

I'm hoping that I am missing the easy solution and someone can point it out.  At this point DVD Profiler is unusable and this is very sad for me - I walk around like I have lost a friend.  :  )

Any help that anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated!
John

That's weird...
If you go into the options, then select System, change the language to something else and see if you get text appearing then (if you can pick a language you understand slightly to avoid getting lost!). If that works then try changing it back to your default (ie. English) and see if they're still there

Not sure if this is what your looking for but try........

Right click an any of the Icons on the Tool Bar
Click on Options
Check mark..... Show Tool Tip on Tool Bar.

This will show a label when you hover over the Icon

bdixon - A good idea - I hadn't thought of that.  I chose Spanish (after carefully figuring out where to click to get back to English) and had no luck.  Still no text on the buttons.

LDH - Actually the ToolTips are selected but the label does not come up on a hover-over (is that a word?) for some reason.  The ToolTips labels work in other applications.

Thanks!

Go to DVDProfiler menu "View -> Load Layout...".
Select the layout named "Invelos Default - High Resolution".
This should fix it. If not please come up again.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

I had tried this before but went ahead and gave it another shot.  Unfortunately, the "Invelos Default - High Resolution" layout does not resolve the problem.

Giga Wizard - thanks for this idea.  I ran SFC /SCANNOW with the XP disk in the drive and it ran to completion (this took a while).  Other than the "Insert your Windows XP Professional CD-ROM now."  message popping up (to which I chose 'Retry') there were no other messages.

I realized that I had not reinstalled after updating my video driver and running the System File Checker.  As I really don't want to waste people's time that are willing to help, I decided to go ahead and do a complete uninstall.  I went out to the Invelos website and downloaded the latest version, installed it, entered my registration code, and imported my database backup.  This did not resolve the problem.  Interesting to note that even during the install, the selection buttons were missing text.

Not sure but I seem to recall someone having this very same issue and it had something to do with a missing font in Windows. I think DVDP uses the Tahoma font for the button text doesn't it?

Check the Windows\Fonts folder to see if both Tahoma (TrueType) & Tahoma Bold (TrueType) are there.

from the start button go to your configuration screen
there should be a lettre option folder (half open with a green A sticking out)
you should have these truetype fonts:
Tahoma
Tahoma bold

I do have both the Tahoma (TrueType) and the Tahoma Bold (TrueType) in my Windows\Fonts folder (along with the Tahoma Small Cap).  The icon, however, is not the double-T but is a cursive 'O'.  Even thought the filename shows "Tahoma (TrueType)" double-clicking on it shows "Tahoma (OpenType).  I'm not sure if this is normal or not as other fonts show as OpenType.

this seems to indicate that problem is not with DVD Profiler software.
You could try and update your visual basic runtime. make shure your downloading the correct language for your XP Pro (I think you get this page in English US)
VB 6 service pack 6

It is fixed!

First I want to thank you all very much for your time!  I know there are a lot of things you can be doing on a Saturday and you decided to be helpful so that I can again use this product that I love.

My sincere thanks and positive feedback to all of you.  Also you all get major Karma points!

The Tamoma font seems to have been the issue (good call 8ballMax!), even though all the Tahoma font were indeed present on my system.  I did a quick search on the web and downloaded and reinstalled the font.  This fully resolved my problem.  Weird.

I should note that this was a PC problem - not a DVD Profiler issue.

Thanks again for all your help - I've got to go as I have some Blu-Ray DVDs to enter....  :  )
