I finally figured out how I'm going to organize my 545 DVD's using a label maker with the "Location/Slot" fields printed on them.
I'm sorting by Genre and noticed that there are a ton of discrepancies. I'm going to organize my Genre fields so everything is in place and sequels show up together.
Before editing a very large amount of entries I need to clear up a couple of things. If I update my profiles will a new downloaded profile overwrite my changes? If so, how do I prevent that from happening?
I did a ton of research on the forums last night regarding custom Genres. I was really hoping I could create my own. Anyone who's familiar with iTunes knows how useful having custom Genres are. I tried using the Tags as mentioned by Skip, but that doesn't help me with the way I'm using the numbering system to organize. I'm 100% for custom local genres, just my two cents.

For the past couple of years I've only been using the program to enter my DVD's, now I'm actually learning the system and trying to get the most out of it. I'm enjoying finding all the new tips and tricks and I look forward to finally organizing my out of control addiction.
Hopefully when I get things organized I can finally start doing contributions. |

No other option at this time... sorry. In fact, it is very easy to do. You can edit genre using a translation file (Tools>Options>System>Language>Edit) You "translate" for example "family" to whatever you want. You lock your genre field, and of course, you MUST NOT contribute it. The translation function is a very powerful tool to customize dvdprofiler and make your local database much more close to your wishes. | | | | Images from movies | | | | Last edited: by surfeur51 |
