| | Posted: | | | | I Would like to see an an Original Rating feature. This would be useful for all the new Unrated DVDs. It would allow people looking for a movie to see what a movie was originaly ratted.
Some may argue that many, unrated were originally R. But that is not always true. For example, Live Free Die Hard, was PG-13. | | | | Last edited: by DVDog |

| | Posted: | | | | Sorry I don't agree with this idea. If a dvd is NR he is unrated, we don't create inexistent rating. Most of the time an unrated DVD (at least in my collection) is a different version that the theatrical rated film, so you can't use the theatrical rating since this is not the same movie. You can change the rating as you wish in your database that what I do with many things. |

The question was asked how do we determine what a movie was originally rated.. The rated DVD for one. Plus any other movie source. There are a ton of Movie review and info sites that have the original rating. |

Personally I see no importance on that piece of information. I only record the rating printed on the DVD case just because there is a field for that information. |

The question was asked how do we determine what a movie was originally rated.. The rated DVD for one. Plus any other movie source. There are a ton of Movie review and info sites that have the original rating. Like I've already wrote this is a different movie : The Director's cut or the Unrated Edition is not the same movie than the theatrical rated version. The majority of the unrated are not from recent movie. Many of them (at least in my collection) are seventies movies release without rating (they can play in theather without them at this time) or with a self applied X (a rating who doesn't exist anymore and use to bring the public in the theater). And I'm sure that a lot of movies was unrated because no rating system board existed when they were released (at the time when each major US cities decide if a movie was decent or not) |
