When my old pc died I did not back up my database from my old XP machine.

Now that I have a new pc with Vista Ultimate I woul dlike to move over the data without having to reinputting my entire collection again.

What do I need to do?  Or do I need to start over and remember to back up next time?

Install DVD Profiler on your computer if you not done so.
you still have your harddrive?
if so, install this harddrive in toyour computer.
Search on it for a folder named:
\DVD Profiler\Databases
copy this folder to your vista harddrive where DVD Profiler has installed
\DVD Profiler\Databases
then start DVD Profiler
DVD Profiler Menu: File
Open Database
Browse button if no database available and browse to that location and open your database.

I have the old hard drive in a external case.

Are you talking about the the DVD Profiler directory in the XP My Documents folder?

Then copy it to where on the Vista drive?  In the Documents on the Start menu?

There is also a directory called DVD Profiler in the C:\Users\XXXX\AppData\Roaming\DVD Profiler directory

use the search feature from the start button somewhere (I don't have access to vista)
search for this folder:
\DVD Profiler\Databases on your C: drive it is somewhere in the my documents folder I believe.
Where Eigenaar is the users name
Where Mijn documenten is My Documents

Found out my trouble!

Guess I am still getting used to Vista.

There is a new selection when you try to copy files.  I did not select "copy and replace".  I selected "skip" so it did not copy any of my old files to the new pc.

Guess I should read the screen!

Thanks for trying to help

Alternative Method:
Start DVD Profiler
From DVD Profiler Menu: File
Open Database
Browse... Button (Browse to the location on the old harddrive where the dvd profiler database is)
Open It
If succesfull the nnext step is to backup that database.
From DVD Profiler Menu: File
Backup Database
Use Specific Location or Removable drive (Not the old harddisc)
when this is done
close DVD Profiler
remove your old harddrive
start DVD Profiler
From DVD Profiler Menu: File
Restore Database
Use Specific Location or Removable drive (Not the old harddisc)
And you should have moved your Database
