When I attempt to back up my collection list I get a message that says:

Can't create file C:\backup.dpb

Is this a known issue?  I am running Windows Vista (it worked with XP)

Pleas help if you can.

Is it possible that he can't create a backup of his collection because he doesn't have an Unlimited Registration Key?

My oh My!!!! You techs are fantastic!!!!!  I thought I was going to have to start over!!!  The my documents suggestion worked perfectly!

I do - I was always too lazy to lock my XP down like this, and several programs where so badly designed they wouldn't run if you tried - now all us bad and/or lazy programmers actually have to get it right!

Most PC's these days  if not all,  have their Hard drives partitioned,, or even a second harddrive installed, - as they are fairly inexpensive for an 80 GB or smaller/ larger is  the best way to go when saving your data to another drive. -  So if your C: drive gets a nasty virus or to the point where the O/S has to be replaced with a fresh install,.  It is not the best place to keep backups on the same drive as profiler lives there too

I have  extra drives on my Windows XP  and on drive H:  I have, (as an example),, 600 titles  and the space required for that is only 222MB ..  Each time you do a backup,, the profiller Invelos program remembers what drive and what folder to place the newest update.

Storing backups on another drive other than the OS Drive is a MUST.

I have my DVD Profiler database backed up in two places, 1st another physical HDD other than the physical HDD that the OS is on & second on a Flash Drive.

Yes, hard drives die, this is why you need a sound backup strategy. If someone is too lazy or too uninformed about good backup practices, well that is possibly TOO BAD for them if disaster happens. Lessons are learned the HARD way sometimes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
