| | Posted: | | | | I have my trailers all set up in the Notes field to call PowerDVD and play the trailer with the following format: <A HREF="g:\VOBs\3194-tr.vob">Trailer</A> My laptop was reimaged last week and I reinstalled DVDPro and restored the backup. Now, the trailer does not play in PowerDVD .. instead it tries to run Quicktime in the Notes window, but errors out because it is a vob file. I have checked the file types to make sure MPEG and VOB are set for PowerDVD. Can any one help me figure out what got reset to make this stop working? |

Even though you say you checked them, it does sound like the file types have been corrupted somehow. Even though PowerDVD may still be available to play vob files in file associations, it needs to be the default action for it to work from within Profiler. |

What do you mean when you say "it needs to be the default action for it to work from within Profiler"?

You need to set the file types in Windows. Open Windows Explorer and on the menu Tools>Folder Options. | | Posted: | | | | Thanks for the replys, but as I said in my original post, the file type in windows explorer was the first thing I checked. The vob file type is set for PowerDVD. I can double click on a vob file in windows explorer and it plays in PowerDVD. It just doesn't work from within DVDProfiler ... there it tries to run it in Quicktime. Before my laptop was reimaged it correctly pulled up PowerDVD from within DVDPro, but now it no longer works.
Any other ideas? |

| | Posted: | | | | When you download Quicktime, there will be a box you must UNcheck if you don't want Quicktime to become your default player for media and various online video streams.
If you already downloaded Quicktime and did not uncheck the box that asks whether you want Quicktime as your default player, then you must go to Quicktime Preferences and UNcheck whatever formats you would prefer to view in Windows Media Player.
To do this:
a. Launch Quicktime Player
b. Pull down and select Quicktime Preferences (It is under the Quicktime menu. Make sure it says Quicktime Preferences and not just Preferences.)
c. Click on the Advanced tab d. In the preferences pop-up window, click on the Mime-settings button to adjust.
e. Make the adjustments. (You can UN-check all the boxes except the top one that says STREAMING - Streaming Movies

| | Posted: | | | | Giga Wizard, you are my hero. I tried changing the file types within Quicktime, but they reverted back each time. I don't know why. So I uninstalled Quicktime, checked and my vobs played !!! YEAH. I then reinstalled Quicktime and set the file types while installing. This time they stuck. Everything is working.
