My HTPC is not connected to the internet and I would like to know how I can install my purchased copy of DVD Profiler on this second PC.

Would somewhere here kindly give me the steps necessary to do this? Also how would I best get my constantly updated database from the PC where I am enetering the DVD additions to my HTPC?

Thank you.

Just make a complete backup of your database by doing the following:

File --> Backup Database.

Copy the complete backup to a USB drive. Copy the setup program to the USB drive also.

Install the program on the HTPC, then do a restore.

File --> restore database, leave everything selected. You now have a complete database.

For subsequent additions, perform normal backups, but do a selective restore.

File --> restore database --> select restore specific profiles (choose the new profiles from the list). Make sure you deselect "Restore full user database", because this will erase your db and just restore the selected profiles.
In the cast database, choose "replace existing".

This should do the trick.

Hello itsme:

(Great -- Todd Rundgren would be happy)

Not to toot my own horn (HONK!), but you can "share" your database between two PCs over a network.

http://www.invelos.com/Forums.aspx?task=viewtopic&topicID=229024&PageNum=1&x=0#M492805

Some highlights:

1)  DVD Profiles is not a network program.  Attempting to open up the same DB at the same time on two different PCs will probably cause problems.  (I've never tried it.  Don't want to risk it.)

2)  If you know how to share folder and know about permissions, you shouldn't have too much trouble.

I have successfully added Disk IDs and changed cast and crew around.  A lot of big stuff I still do on my "main PC", but it's real nice to just watch a movie in the other room and pop up the profile.

Have fun!
