is there something that i can read that will tell me how to use this program? i've looked at support and it's not answering my questions, i would like to know why i'm not able to put a pic in my post or a link to a web page or show what i've been watching or doing other things that i don't even know about, i'm sure part of my problem is that i just got Vista and having to learn a whole new system, it just seems like nothing i want to do is easy any more, i want to use this program for my enjoyment, and all i'm doing is adding DVD's and reading forums, you know, more stuff is not necessarily a good thing if you are not allowed to use it, cause i don't know about it, maybe you think this is stupid, i'm just tired of seaching for an answer,  anyway, is there an answer out there, somewhere?

As far as the program itself, from the top menu

Help > DVD Profiler Help

is the closest thing you will get to a manual, as far as the webpage stuff... most of it is explained in pinned threads in the forums, in the support section, or you may just have to ask.

as far as posting a pic or link in the forums, those are the two left icons next to the bold, italic, etc.....

to post a picture to the forum, hit the picture icon and type the url of where the picture is located on the net

to post a link... type your text you would like to linkify... highlight it, then press the link icon, and type the url...

to create a web page that shows your most recently watched items, that is not a standard dvd profiler feature, the links you see here on the forums are created by  PHP Profiler... which is much more complex to setup and use then the standard program... you can learn more about php profiler by searching the forums.

dvd profiler versions 3.x should work exactly the same whether on windows xp or vista...

if you have a more specific problem please explain further and one of us would be more then happy to try to help you out.

from the DVDProfiler menu: Help: DVD Profiler Help. (About DVDProfiler program)

Where you created these messages in this forum you have a small Task Bar (Top Left)
The first icon on the right of it shows a globe with links (WWW). Ussage:
copy the WWW link form your browser addres bar: www.google.com. Mark it: Left click mouse holding and dragging over the text you want to select, the textbackgrounf  changes in color. Press CTRL+Insert or Right click with mouse and select copy from pop-up menu. Type a represantative text in this message. Mark it. Click on that right icon (WWW), a window opens URL:  Place the cursor behind http://. Paste it: press SHIFT+Insert or right click and select paste. The result would be: this is a link

The second icon (mini picture) is the picture link. Usage:
Upload your picture to a service (like Imageshack, Photobucket, ... whatever works best for you)
you get a link like: http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k219/ninehours/Dancers.jpg copy it.
Press picture icon, paste URL in the window at IMG URL:
I hope this answers some of your questions.

Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. Please include the sources for your changes in the contribution notes, especially for cast and crew additions.

There are many here who are willing to help. My best advice would be to post something specific that you are trying to do.Example: trying to add a picture to your post. Someone will be able to walk you through the process step by step here in the forum or by PM

So, let's try this picture thing.

You said you already uploaded it to an online hoting service (photobucket, image shack, etc.) right? Which one did you use? The reason I ask is I am familiar with Photobucket and can tell you exactly how to do it. If you used a different one that's OK, I'm sure someone here uses whatever you used (there aren't that many) and they would jump in to help.

Tell us what hosting service you used and we'll go from there.

FYI - you will find no help in the actual DVDP Program if you are trying to figure out how to do something on the forum. It will just get you frustrated if you are looking there for answers. There is a DVDP wiki which has some additional help available for actually using the program. Click here.

It's exactly where he says it is. In the DVD Profiler menu bar, click on Help. Then click on DVD Profiler Help.

I think there's some confusion here. The DVD Profiler program is an entirely different thing than this forum.

In order to post it on this forum, then yes, you have to send it to a website. Follow the instructions posted above very carefully and it will work. In order to include a picture (a DVD cover) in a profile on DVD Profiler, the picture does not have to be on a website.

Not sure what to tell you on this one. When it comes to the forum I think experimenting is your best bet. Or if you see a post and you wonder how someone did something (like bolding text or including a picture) press the Quote button and look at how they did it.

When it comes to the DVD Profiler program I think a combination of reading the above mentioned help and experimentation is the way to go about it.

People ARE trying to help you. The more specific you are while describing what you are trying to accomplish, the easier it becomes to offer help.

Those are related questions and fair to ask. From your questions it seemed there was some confusion as to whether or not you were trying to do stuff on DVD Profiler itself or just in this forum. It's also helpful to know whether English is your native language or not, since we can taylor the language we use in our responses accordingly.

i want to put a pic on a post

This has been answered in both the second and third post of this thread.

But I'll do it again.

1. Upload the picture to the web.
2. Create a post on this forum.
3. Click on the "Insert an image" button above the text entry field. It looks like this:
4. Enter the address (URL) to the picture you uploaded to the web in step 1 above.
5. Add any text you want to the post and then press Submit.

Note: It's possible that your web browser is configured in such a way that when you follow step 3 above (pressing the button) the popup is blocked from being displayed. If this is the case you'll get some kind of message. Often at the top of the browser window, under the URL address bar. Usually you can click on that to give permission to this website to launch popups. You may have to click the button again to display the popup.

If all this fails, my best advice is to quote this post and see how I inserted the picture of the button, and then try to copy that procedure.
