Help!  I’ve searched the forum as well as the program help all to no avail.  When printing a report there is an option to use a stored filter set but I have been unable to find how to create one.

I’d like a report with a subset of my collection i.e. collection numbers 50-99

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Creating a filter set is pretty easy. In the filter window (Ctrl+F if it doesn't show on your layout) there is a folder and disk button. the disk button will allow you to save the current filters to a file and the load will allow you to open a file for filters you have saved. One thing to keep in mind though, is that this saved set does not remember the setting for AND/OR and which one was checked and just uses whichever one is currently set.

you can additionally flags as cyclograph mentioned. however if you have already gone through the trouble to filter down to what you want to show you can either a) save that filter set and just load that or b) when running the report there is an option in the Select/Sort for 'As filtered/sorted in collection listing' and that will report on just what is currently filtered.

an easy way to flag the titles based on collection number would be to
1) sort by collection number ascending
2) click on the profile for collection number 50 and then flag all above current (shortcut is Ctrl+Up)
3) click on the profile for collection number 99 and then flag all below current (shortcut is Ctrl+Down)
4) then select Invert Flags (shortcut is Ctrl+Shift+I)

that might be a bit quicker than manually clicking the flag for 50 titles (depending on how fast you click)

another option, that you may be able to make work for you, is to use tags. Depending on the criteria you are sorting by (ie, maybe 50-99 is all tv shows, or all disney movies) you can create a tag for that. then you can easily filter by tags to select just the titles you want. This would make most sense if the titles 50-99 all have something in common and thats the reason you want a report of just those.

Agrare, your detailed directions were exactly what I was looking for.  I numbered my general collection (currently at 375) starting at 101 with 1-100 reserved for my all time favorites so I was looking for an easy way to print my ATFs.

Something I learned after I posted my detailed instructions is if you press the space bar while a profile is selected it will flag that profile (and move the selection down to the next profile)

Also, from your description of your intent, You may really want to consider using tags for this as you wouldn't have to worry about keeping a block of collection numbers reserved, and it would also probably be easier if something moves off, or gets added, to your all time favorites

Ill try to give some instructions but don't have DVD profiler on this computer so this is from memory.
to add a tag
1) go to the tools->edit tags menu
2) click add tag (or new tag)
3) type in the name for the tag and click ok
in your case you would proably call the tag 'All Time Favorites' or 'ATF'

now when you add a new dvd to your collection, you can edit the tags at this time if you have prompt for personalization selected. You can also change tags later by going to the personalization section in edit profile (Ctrl+P) or if you have the Set Tag window as part of your profile, on the default layout it is a tab grouped with the filter tab, you can select a profile and then just check the appropriate tags under Set Tags.

You can also flag a bunch of profiles, then go to the DVD->FLagged->Edit Tags menu from the file menu and edit the tags for all the flagged profiles (would make initially setting your tags nice and easy)

then, you can use the filters to filter by tag. Across the top of the filter window is different things to filter on, General, studios, cast, crew, tags, etc. Not all may show at once but you can click on the right/left arrows to scroll this list. On the Tag filter you can check tags, the default for tags is OR and if you save a filter set for tags, this will default back to  OR even if you had it checked as AND. You have three options, Checked, Unchecked, or doesn't matter, doesnt matter is the filled in box that they all start with.

Hopefully that helps, and there is a lot you can do with this program so if you are trying to do something you can't figure out, come to the forums and ask as there are plenty of people that are willing to help.
