Now that the WGA strike has cancelled the Golden Globes this weekend, as the actors won't cross the picket lines.

Does that mean, if the strike isn't over by the time the Oscars come around, that, it will also have to be cancelled? or will the actors cross the picket lines?

So, what do you think will happen if the strike isn't resolved by the Oscars.

According to this article which quotes results of a meeting last night the Oscars will be affected as well. That one will be a big blow to the network(s) hosting it if it doesn't air. ABC here in the states but I believe it is a world wide broadcast.

And I really was going to be prepared this year for the annual online Oscar party I attend... honest James, I was

It's going to be interesting to see if the actors' egos will be stronger than their solidarity with their co-workers. With or without an awards show they will get their awards, but they wont get to flaunt themselves in front of the entire world.

I voted it will be canceled.

Well, I think the important thing to note is that the awards presentation show is the only thing being affected.  Awards are still going to be given out.  If I'm not mistaken, the Golden Globe winners would be announced via a press conference.

My only hope is that they recognize the banality of the various award shows, and start a new trend by eschewing the ceremonies altogether.
