I posted last night about my problems getting the backup to work.

Once it did I was amazed at how great the DVD images looked. I never recalled them looking so sharp. I had 3 or 4 that didn't have an image so I refreshed the images from the online database.

Once it was done I was amazed at how bad they looked. The shapness was gone the clarity.

I ended up restoring them from my backup instead.

What gives, why are the images such poor quality from the online site.

Make sure you've selected to download High Quality images in the options.

Tools -> Options -> Display -> DVD Cover Image Quality -> High Quality

You said "online site".  The free DVD listing on Invelos's site currently only uses the thumbnail icons which are all of low quality.  Prevents against image theft.

If this is what you are talking about, you may want to check out the phpDVDProfiler application that uses the XML export from DVDP and the images from your own collection.  It's a bit of manual effort whenever you make a change that you want to make available online but it seems to be worth it.

The strange part is I backed up these images when the new owners took over and introduced the new software. They looked fine before the new software and after.

It's only since I reloaded everything that it's gone south.

The cover art images came from them originally, so why now do they look so bad.

I'm guessing that I'm the only one that has this issue.

I'll check out the "set to hi res" tag and look at what you mention Dr
