| Posted: | | | | John. 4K is basically at least quad the resolution of HDTV, and is available now in EXTREMELY expensive TVs. Whether it becomes a mainstream issue is down the road apiece yet, it will be aimed primarily, I think, at "Virtual Reality" for example you being able to attend a birthday party without being there, think of a live version of the Help us, Obi Wan Kenobi, you're our only hope tape from Star Wars. There are some films that being re-mastered in 4K for transfer to DVD/HD/BD formats.

What do you think is the "next big thing"
With the war between HD-DVD and Blu-ray, it is possible that those two fail among large public. Then, the "next big thing" would be a "standard" HD format... | | | Images from movies |

We might still use a hard drive to store many (very many) programs and films, but individual content will be downloaded, stored and moved on flash drives (don't tell me it cannot be done, it was less than a decade ago when the first 128 MB flash memory was produced; now 4 GB ones sell for less than $50). Mechanical bits are so prone to mechanical failure... | | | If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

Next biggest thing will be the Jetson's flying car . not saying they haven't already existed - saying that they will be THE NEXT BIG THING as in... mass appeal and adoption. | | | -JoN |
