I just wonder since it is illegal to use imdb information how does Collectorz and other movie collector programs get around it?

I would presume that they pay to license the info for their use.

It's only "illegal" to scrape or wholesale copy data from a third-party database without their permission. Said permission is usually granted via payment of a membership/license fee.

There is no problem with using a third-party database for reference only.

not that I use any of these crappy programs but a long time again I tried out Colllectoz movie collector program and just wonder because they had an IMDB icon but the covers.

Not sure if someone in a IRC chatroom mention DVDP or if I found it on my own. It really doesn't matter it's the best out there.

I think what 8Ball and Lopek said sums it up pretty well. Notice that Collectorz and most other programs are not onlyu not as good as Profiler but also cost more, I would suspect the added cost includes the licensing fee to IMDb to use their inaccurate data.
