I'm sure anybody who has made a contribution, at some point has wished to be able to add something else to the notes without having to recontribute the whole thing and reset the approval clock.

It would be helpful if we could access our notes to add something else we forgot, or to reword to make it more understandable, etc.  Maybe restrict it to the first 24 hours, so the screeners have a chance to see it.  Any thoughts?

I second this. The ability to edit contribution notes would indeed be a good thing.

Editing of contribution notes should only be permitted if no votes have been cast and should not be permitted if any votes have been cast. This is for the same reason that editing of an eBay listing is not permitted after a bid has been placed - it is open to abuse.

Similarly, as with eBay, adding to contribution notes (at the end, without modification of the original text) should be allowed at all times.

I agree, I was going to post that if nobody had before me.

I absolutely agree on this.

I would agree to adding and editing of contribution notes at every time,  provided that there is a kind of "change-history" in the notes. Number of changes should be limited...

edit:

How about a recontribute button where you have the withdraw button for the instances where something has been declined/voted no by mistake/incorrectly allowing you to amend your notes and saving you having to recontribute from the program. You could limit it to 1 or 2 time so it is not abused

That's what I had in mind.  Sometimes people vote No because they don't understand something, or they are in error, etc.  Being able to ADD to the notes could eliminate some of that.

Like eBay allows you to add comments/notes to your item profile up for bid, or answers to questions from bidders about the item.  Same idea here.

To reiterate:

1.  Allow edit changes for first 36 hours if no votes at all cast.
2.  If votes have been cast, allow for ADDING ONLY comments to answer No vote comments.
3.  No edits/changes/adds during final 12 hours other than a full withdrawal.

I would appreciate this very much!

That would already be covered if Ken agrees with the request that was made a while ago to allows us 1 reply on the reasons for negative votes.  If he decides to do both then I think we shouldn't be allowed to change our notes when they already have votes.

I also don't think we want notes to become a resume of the discussions that contributors and voters have in PM so limiting the edition might be a good thing.

This would indeed be a useful feature to be able to edit your contribution notes.
