| Posted: | | | | Is there anywhere I can get a guide on how to handle boxsets and TV sets in DVDP? I just found out about the box set feature with the "children"... but I'm not sure how you pick the proper Disc ID's to go with the proper box set... |

| Posted: | | | | Box sets are a bit of a mine field and very complicated in cases! If you're just wanting to add child profiles to a parent profile, I'll try and explain it best I can. First thing - it's a lot easier if your PC has a DVD drive - go to Add DVD and go to the Add by Disc option. Insert each disc and the program should recognise it and you can then click the Add DVD button. If you don't have a DVD drive, it's a bit more complicated - go to Add DVD and this time bring up your parent profile (easiest using the UPC), don't add it, but instead ask to Preview it. In the preview you should see a section called Box Set Contents, and here will be a list of the connected Disc IDs. Make a note of them and then cancel. Search for each child profile by title and compare the Disc IDs to the ones you made a note of. You can't see the whole ID usually unfortunately, but you should be able to see enough to compare. Phew! Now you've got the profiles added to your collection, you need to connect them to the parent profile. Edit the parent profile and go to the Box Set Contents page, search for each child in turn on the left hand side, and click Assign to link them. When you click OK, all the child profiles should now be listed under the parent. Hope this helps! |

Is there another more complicated way that adds something extra? |

I have been reading about "parent" & "child" profiles and had no idea what in the world everyone was talking about! In fact, after reading the ongoing debates related to this topic, I became even more confused if possible! Your description is clear and concise making it easy to understand. I'm not sure if I will break down my box sets but I will save your directions in case I do. |
