Hello

How do I have to set up DVD Profiler 3 so its data is available for all users on my XP machine? So far, if I run prfiler under my account and start it, everything is fine; when my wife starts it under hers, no data is available, we would have to re-import everything for her. Is there an easy solution so the same data (DVDs, headshots etc.) always is available for all users?

The database is stored in the My Documents section of each user account.

Setting up two user accounts to use the same database should be possible by doing the following:

For the "second user", do File|Open Database. Click on the Browse button to locate the folder
C:\Documents and Settings\<first user>\My Documents\DVD Profiler\Databases\<username>
and select it.

It will probably be necessary to grant read (and maybe also write) access to that folder first. By default one User can not access another User's "Documents and Settings" folder and sub-folders.

I was going to add that suggestion, but didn't, as my Shared Folder often behaves funny...

If I had added that option, I would have pointed out, that the data will then be on drive C: for sure; at least I haven't found a way to move that folder... (personally I would not place data on drive C: if it can be avoided).

just put the database on another drive. I'm using E:\apps\dvd profiler database\ as the top level for all my databases and headshots etc.

You don't need to backup or restore the database.. just create a new database as a copy of an existing one. You can choose where it goes and it will then become the default. (Look under File / open database..)

I agree Paul, I would do it that way if needed. However, I believe that that may invlove having to adjust access permissions for those folders. (I just wanted to point out to the user asking, what is/may be invloved in getting this done...)
