| Posted: | | | | I'm experiencing an anomaly that I can't explain when I use filtering in "Add DVD to Collection"/"Add by Title".
My objective is to see a list of only DVDs in the Criterion Collection. If I type "Criterion" into the Title field, I see no DVDs. If I then check-mark "Full substring filter" I see only "Armageddon Criterion Collection" in the DVDs list.
Contrast this with what happens when I search my Collection. Using the exact same filtering criteria I see a list of all the Criterion Collection DVDs that I either own or have added to my Wish List.
Is the "Add DVD to Collection" behavior a bug, or pilot error? |

The Armageddon DVD comes up because it's title is wrong! I believe when you search your collection, the search does include the edition field, which is why it works then. |

| Posted: | | | | Thanks, NorthBloke. Your explanation makes sense (the program's inconsistent behavior: perhaps less so).
As I now understand it: The ":" is the demarcation of the concatenation of the "Title" and "Edition" attributes of the DVD. That concatenated string populates a display field (column) that is, somewhat unfortunately, labeled "Title". A more accurate label for that column would be: "Title:Edition".
It would seem that filtering ought to be consistent in the two contexts that I described. Perhaps the Edition field should be searched only if one types the ":". In my case, the filter string would then be: ": The Criterion Collection" |
