Hi Guys, I need help again.

I have over 400 dvds with the 10 number UPC not the 12 numbers required.

When I enter the corrected UPCs many are not accepted.  My first dvd is 025493556094  THE ABBOTT AND COSTELLO COLLECTION.  The UPC is from the back cover.  Any Help[ will be greatly appreciated.

Check the disc ID also.

the dvd UPC you have given as an example is 12 digits long - have you entered all the 12?

Looks like some of the ones that were bad before somehow got fixed.
Is there a way to generate a new list of DVDs with invalid UPCs?  I manually went through each of the flagged items and did a "update profile" and if it errored I knew it was still bad.

Others are still failing--i even verify that my full UPC is the same as what is on the box and in the back cover picture I see on the screen.  I have about 2 dozen like this.  I'd rather not have to go by disc ID--the UPC code SHOULD work!  Otherwise--is there an easy way to search by title and replace the matching entry with mine?

Some examples of this is
Nighty Night: First Series  - UPC 794051240026
Significant Others - Complete Series  - UPC 826663976618

Several of my R2 and R4 titles have similar issues, and the UPCs are correct.

What I meant about the Disc ID was that you may get a "Bad UPC" flag while the actual problem is a bum ID.  I had three or four like that when I did my conversion from 10 to 12 on the UPC.  The UPC showed correct, but was flagged as bad.  Soon as I dropped the disc in and reread the ID, all was cool.

Thanks for all the suggestions and help.  My problem seems to be that I would enter the correct UPS for a couple of dozen discs and then backup my correction.  Then later return go to flagged- and click on the unconverted list.  The unconverted list is not updated, it is from the original restore from 2.5 to 3.0.  Thanks to Ken for this information.

Thanks again guys

Randy

Is this the case for everyone? I am considering moving up to V3 at present, but with over 1400 dvd's, which were scanned with a barcode reader, re-entering them all would take forever.
I've come into this somewhat late in the day it appears, since I knew nothing about V3 until I clicked on the homepage link in DVDProfiler. The new version looks very good, with a clean layout, but would I be causing myself more problems than I need if I upgrade now?

Thanks

Don't worry about it, just restore a 2.x Backup. You will then have a certain amount of unconverted UPCs, which can be fixed very quickly, using the flag list. There may be a few where the Disc-ID is not converted (if there is more than one disc with Disc-ID in the profile or the ID is for Side B only), for which you'll have to grab the disc or search for the profile by name.

Thanks..I've sort of taken the plunge, in as much as having two computers has come in handy. I figured I'd import it on my "spare" computer, get is up and running on there, and then back it up and restore it onto the main system... Given the size of the collection it seemed like a sensible precaution.

I've got the new version, and very nice it seems too. I've restored the old 2.4 database, and it tells me there are 124 unconverted dvds. It saved a "flagged list", which when I load it, puts ticks next to what I can only assume are those which are unconverted. What does this actually mean though. The dvd's are there, have all the profile info, and dvd covers, so why is the unconverted UPC actually necessary. Now I have the list, what exactly should I be doing.

Apologies for appearing dense (it's because I am!).. Thanks for the ongoing help

The flagged discs, although they appear in your collection with no problem, still have the old UPCs connected to them, which means you won't get any online updates to these profiles nor will you be able to submit any updates for these profiles.
So if you're happy with them as they are, there's no need to do anything, but if you do want online updates for these profiles, you will have to correct the UPC so they link to the new database.
Hope this helps!

Certainly does, thanks! Out of those which are flagged, most of them aren't listed in the online database, or never see updates, because they are so obscure, no-one's heard of 'em!
I'm going to run both databases simultaneously for a couple of weeks, given I have two computers at my disposal. If everything runs as smoothly as it is at the moment, I'll go permanent. I'm impressed with what I've seen of V3 so far.

Thanks for the advice...much appreciated

You realise you can have both versions installed on the same PC? They occupy different folders in "Program Files" so don't clash with each other.

I have 487 unconverted profiles. I could fix most of them by viewing the cover photo in DVD profiler but haven't found a way to edit UPC yet. I found that I can add by UPC, but it doesn't replace the old entry.

Why didn' t these convert, as DVD profiler obviously had the information to do so? Please tell me there is some easier way to do this than to add a correct one and then delete the bad one.

Thank you, that helps a lot. Now how do I make the number of tagged files decrease?
