I was unable to add these two titles, which both have the UPC 828706545423, which I was told is not valid:

Teen Star Academy (2016) directed by Cristian Scardign, starring John Savage, Blanca Blanco, Adriana Volpe, Youma Daikite, Bret Roberts.  Written by Francesco Malavenda, music by Dr. Felix, edited by Luna Gualano. Distributed by Premiere Entertainment/ITN.

The Toy Castle: Dance for Joy: 12 Uplifting Ballet Stories performed by the Royal Winnipeg Ballet (2006), Sound Venture Productions Ottawa. Distributed by Questar Inc.http://www.invelos.com/images/Buttons/SubmitVL.png

I can scan these, but I haven't yet.

As they released Sacagawea: Heroine of the Lewis and Clark Journey with the same UPC, Questar must like that number.

I think that says a lot about the company and the legitimacy of those releases.

The first of those two films was released by ITN, not Questar.  Most Dollar Tree DVDs have similar UPCs on a sticker over the original UPC. Questar has been around since VHS days.  If they were an illegal outfit, they wouldn't  be operating continuously under the same name since the 1980s.

I pointed out that Questar released both The Toy Castle and Sacagawea: Heroine of the Lewis and Clark Journey, the first of which you bought in Dollar Tree with the same UPC as the latter.

Could your recent purchases be bootleg discs? It seems suspicious to buy two DVDs with different titles from the same store to find they have the same marker number. It probably won't be a problem for the shop because they'll sell them for the same price.

Is the UPC 828706545423 on the sticker or the original packaging?

In those cases, it was on the original packaging.  A lot of these Dollar Tree DVDs have the same UPCs, and many that don't do have stickers.

I'm trying to follow directions for these alternates with different UPCs, but perhaps I didn't.

Today at Dollar Tree, I bought, Stockholm (828706545362) but can't add it because I noted that my copy of The League of Legend Keepers that I bought the other day also has that UPC number.  I thought I submitted that alternate correctly, but apparently not, because it's telling me that I already own Stockholm.

Others I bought today
Split infinity (8278706545423) Questar (This is actually a film I already own on VHS and was not aware had been released on DVD.)
Entanglement (82706545324) Dark Star
Visioneers (828706545423) Viva (I think this is the first Viva release I've bought that wasn't a children's film. I'd never heard of the company before I started buying DVDs from Dollar Tree.)

I'm not sure how far you got, but the process that should work is:

1) Add the title as a manual dvd

2) Under the DVD menu select Change UPC/Locality

3) Select the EAN (or UPC if US I guess) radio button and enter  the UPC

4) Click the big blue arrow to the right and in the list that appears select create new alternative version, which appears at the bottom

5) Edit the details and then you should be able to submit

Yeah...

Not one, not two, but three DVDs that the wife bought at Dollar Tree (or one of the alternatives), all with the same UPC [828706545461] on the actual cover insert, not some generic sticker on the plastic.

A Christmas Star
Beverly Hills Christmas
The Christmas Switch

I'm having trouble with this again.  I bought Oculus, Stardust Memories. and Zelig, all with the same UPC, 828706545461.  I had no trouble adding Oculus by making a new version and changing the UPC.  I tried to do the same for Stardust Memories, but was told that I can't because it has the same UPC as Oculus.  That's nonsense because I already have Richard III with the same UPC in my collection.  I haven't even tried to add Zelig yet.

Because you literally did NOT follow the instructions that I quoted on 11/27/21, 2 replies above your reply.

Is there an easy way to copy over the info?  I don't really want to retype an entire entry for Zelig.

Also, "Add manual" appears to be an option only if you don't find a matching title.  If it's an existing title with everything the same except the UPC and possibly other elements of the cover image, that doesn't appear as an option.

Debug (David Hewlett, 2014), alternate UPC 828706545461
Paranoia (Robert Luketic, 2013)--package design is completely different, UPC 828706545461
The Raven (James McTeigue, 2011), alternate UPC 828706545461
Zelig (Woody Allen, 1983)--package variation, no MGM logo or critic quote on front cover, alternate UPC 828706545461

Add an existing profile from the database, then DVD –> Copy.

Go to your copy of Zelig, then DVD –> Paste.

Check the boxes that apply to the version you have (crew, cast, running time…) And then contribute, citing the EAN of the other one as the source for the cast and crew data.
