| Posted: | | | | I was working on a profile where I have a credit for a crewmember in the opening credits. Later on in the end credits the same person is credited again with the same role, but with a different credited as name.
For cast the rules are clear that the end credits are leading when an actor is listed in both opening- and end credits. Does that apply for the crew as well? So what is leading for a crewmember the opening- or the end credits? |

| Posted: | | | | Interestingly, I could not find anything conclusive in the Credits rules section. Edit: Thanks Gamemaster, completely overlooked that end-credits part. But I would favor the end credits since most of the time this gives more detailed info. However, it also depends on the movie and particularly the older ones, since those movies most of the time have more credits at the beginning and in the end credits only a handful or nothing at all. Sometimes it is even getting weirder, like the Christopher/Chris Place example I stumbled upon a couple of weeks ago. But in that case, the same person has two different roles (actor and Stunt Coordinator) on which the latter is not to be submitted to the Profiler DB. Like I said, I favor the end credits, but I won't rule out any exceptions as well. | | | DVD Profiler for iOS since: January 9, 2011 (no longer using) DVD Profiler for Android since: June 6, 2013 | | | Last edited: by Hotm@iler |

| Posted: | | | | For the cast the endcredits are leading according the rules so it would make sense it would be the same for the crew as well. Quote: For any film with standard credits, take the actor information from the end credits only, with names and roles listed exactly as they are in the credits and in exactly the same order credited.
If a film does not have standard credits, use the following rules:
If a film has actors listed in the opening credits, which are not listed in the end credits, add these to the list in DVD Profiler before those taken from the end credits. In this case the role (costume designer) was the same for both, but the person was credited with two different credited as names. |

| Posted: | | | | Since the rules don't say anything about a preference for opening or closing credits for crew, I use the first appearance of each crew credit and ignore any duplicate credit. Thus if a crew member is listed in both the opening and closing credits I take the name and role from the opening.

| Posted: | | | | The crew credit rule states as follows:
"Group names of crew members together within each role available and list in exactly the same order credited."
Accordingly, we list crew members in each section (Producers, Writing, Film Editing, Sound, Art, etc.), in order of their appearance in the film's credits (opening credits first, followed by end credits).
The crew member name will be subject to a common name/CLT check, so it doesn't matter whether their name for the same crew role is different in the opening/end credits, there will be only one common name.
That's why I voted taking the credit from the opening credits, as per rules. |
