I am currently developing a tool that utilizes mediadogg's HTTPJolie in order to compare local and online profiles. As a part of testing it I ran a comparison of the overviews in my collection. I found over 500 overviews that differed from the online. Most of those differences consist of just one misspelled word (that I had corrected a long time ago).

My question today is: How important do you feel it is to have overviews corrected if it is just a single misspelled word? I don't mind submitting profile updates, as long as people don't start thinking "Oh it's that darn Swede and his endless spelling corrections!"

So what say you?

Anything the improves the accuracy with the Overviews, however small sounds great. The Overview is one area where even small corrections can make the profiles look more professional.

EDIT: Wow, so far there isn't just a clear consensus, it's unanimous.

Yes, but the level of consensus is still strong enough that it would make for a bit on Ripley's Believe it or Not.

I think the important question is: How does it improve the database?

How does an overview improve in any shape or form if it states

John’s house

Good question, DJ, but possibly more appropriate in the thread Apostrophe vs. Single Quotation Mark

How about misspelling of words in overview.?
Copy the overview from the back of the DVD case exactly as written

If a word is misspelled in the overview on the back of the case, then it should be misspelled in the overview in the profile as well. I try to check that, but of course I may slip up, and if I do I hope someone points it out to me.

So what with wrong editions because of cover printing mistakes?

f.e.: 8712609-650556 (Dutch BD of Casualties of War) has wrongly stated Extended Cut, while there is no extended cut on the disc. Sony directly corrected the cover printing for the second batch (in possession)

f.e.: 5055761-912852 (UK 4K/BD of Halloween): the cover stated Ha40ween on the front cover and should in my opnion be listed as the 40th Anniversary Edition, as it's been released in 2018.

Not sure what this has to do with overview corrections? If you want to discuss Edition entries I suggest you start a separate thread for that.
