We got a bronze in that.

Gymnast Epke Zonderland, who had to take the Dutch gymnastics union to court to be able to go to London in the first place, won gold with an absolutely amazing exercise on the horizontal bar. Isn't revenge sweet? He's the only one in the world able to make some of the moves he made today.

Wind surfer Dorian van Rijsselberghe was finally able to pick up the gold he already secured after 9 races. As he had been told he could not stay out of the competition, he went on to finish in style and get another win in the medal race, with Nick Dempsey (GB) securing the silver and Przemyslaw Miarczynski (Poland - try pronouncing his name quickly - no wonder they drink so much wodka over there...  ) taking over the bronze from German Toni Wilhelm.

GB got another cycling gold! 21 golds and we are now guaranteed to beat Beijing's totals. Awesome awesome stuff. I was somebody who was against us holding the Olympics but the way it has been organised (for the most part) and the athletes have done us proud. I don't just mean the winners either, but even the GB teams in sports like handball, basketball and volleyball where we are complete crap did us proud.

Silver in cycling after poor decision by the commissar in heat 1. GB won by 0.001 seconds but she was relegated after she was elbowewd forcing her out of her lane slightly.   Still, ANOTHER cycling medal though!

I love the fact that the International Olympics Committee changed the rules on the track cycling after a small GB team won loads of medals in 2008. They changed the rules......

Well, that certainly worked well, didn't it....

Current tally is 7-1-1

No doubt they'll change the rules again

I watched that and sure it takes a lot of skill but is it a sport? It don't look like it requires a level of high athleticism.

And don't the horse deserve a medal to

Male football players must be younger than 23 years. Amateur or pro. Weird.

That can't be right because GB played Ryan Giggs who is in his 30's. Not to mention Bellamy and the fact that Beckham was gutted he didn't make the squad.

Three exceptions of the rule, male football players must be younger than 23 years, but three elderly male players are allowed, amateur or professional, while for the olympic women all players can be professional, and elderly, don't ask me, I know it's weird, they probably have a rules committee.

They got gold and bronze!

The Brownlees were great as always, a well-deserved victory.

Kudos to Gómez, too, and to 'Frodo', Olympic champion 2008, today sixth.

Another great win by Hoy, followed by a moving scene between Sir Chris and Sir Steve.

And one of the very few occasions where two bronze medals were awarded, as even the photo finish could not tell them apart: one for NL, one for NZ (albeit one with Dutch roots).

Team GB:

Athens 2004:
Gold - 9
Silver - 9
Bronze - 12
Total - 30

Beijing 2008:
Gold - 19
Silver - 13
Bronze - 15
Total - 47

Current total for London:
Gold - 22
Silver - 13
Bronze - 13
Total - 48

YES! More golds and more medals total than Shanghai with FIVE guaranteed boxing medals still to add. PHENOMENAL! As someone who didn't want the Olympics due to the cost, I am swallowing my words a little as it has been worth it for the huge surge in national pride, something which has been low in recent years. I hope it continues.

As I was watching the gymnastics on the beam last night, it reminded me when a friend ask me to hide one of those beams he had bought for his daughter's birthday. Not the full height, a lower practice height.
When she got older she was offered a full atheistic scholarship to ASU.
So, for a week I had the damn thing across my living room.
Hell, I could not even stand on the thing much less hop and flip around on it.
