I don't think I like that idea. For it to work we would need some way to identify rental copies separate from retail copies, then we'd need a way to define a "rental copy", and then what do you do about ex-rental copies? I don't honestly think there's enough rental copies being contributed to the online to warrant a filter and all the complications the filter would bring with it. |

| Posted: | | | | In the US, there are no rental licenses. Rentals are largely identical to the retail version. There are some special rental version without special features to keep ex-rentals from interfering with the market too much and some without digital copies. | | | Last edited: by Ace_of_Sevens |

| Posted: | | | | There may be no rental license, but blockbuster sells a number of movies that are marked "Rental"
These movies are typically stripped down
No extra languages, minimal subtitles, lack of special features.
A number, not all... |

| Posted: | | | | I personally believe the whole "must own" aspect of this debate is irrelevant. What IS relevant is whether having these in the online collection adds value for Ken to the usefulness of the program as a whole. Perhaps, there IS a user who wishes to keep a 'collection' of his rental experiences and for that utility would pony up the price of this software. As a business owner, why in Hades would Ken want to exclude that avenue of income - especially when it doesn't compromise any of those users who may wish to only catalogue a disk which they bought to keep? Geeze....talk about argueing over nothing. |
