Am I understanding correctly than in order to accept Robin//Wright Penn, you'd have to see a Baskin-Robbins birthday card or somesuch she filled out?

Not at all, but the existing information is not in any way conclusive, Ace and your guess is not good enough.

I have just done just that and your only "evidence" is you assertion that it is not uncommon for American women to move their maiden name to the middle name. But Martians hard empirical evidence shows that this is far less common than the alternatives. So we are left with a situation where the default will be wrong far more often than it is right in those cases even in the US. But when we have 2 names that are usually both fore names especially with a male I am pretty sure it would be far more likely that 1/2/3 would be correct. A best guess based on a number of factors will provie the most accurate data in the database. That would also mean less entries would need correcting.

I would really like it if you could just explain to me what is wrong with this or where any of these statements are wrong? No best guesses or this is BS won't help me understand why?

I don't want to change the starting point 1/2/3, as it's really the most neutral. For Example Tommy Lee Jones. "Lee" could be a second given name or (part of) familiar name.

But in such cases, like the example of Robin Right Penn:
-> Born as Robin (Gayle) Wright
-> Married Sean Penn and took his last name as part of her last name or as last name
-> = Robin Wright Penn

Never said I've an fact that Wright is middle name and I also don't have a fact that Wright is part of the last name. But what is fact, is that Wright was her maiden name.

And if the article TheMadMartian posted is correct or just the direction is correct, that just 25% of the 95% of the women that take her husbands name put their maiden name as middle name, the it would be logical to use 1//23 just because of the probability.

But a German adage says: "You can't teach old dogs new tricks"
I think this applies to many users here. They got their sight of the things and never wíll change it.

And now I'm out of such discussions.*

Every interesting information someone provides will be doubt. But as we never will get "hard" facts, this will always be just on what we can work.

3 items of documentation is enough for me. I've voted relevantly and will update all other DVD's I have. I will let Invelos decide if it should go through or not.

I have come to the conclusion that everyone doing whatever they want is more important than linking. Since i personally have no interest in linking, I'll quit worrying about it. The children have won. It's utterly stupid but we will never have a functional link system because it is far more important that everyone be able to enter whatever they wish.

Far be it from me to try and create something that will function for everybody, instead of just a few.
