This place is a freakin' gongshow I tell ya.

Even when someone is actually proven to be incorrect (PROVEN to be incorrect, not just someone disagreeing with them), crap like this still rages on...

Some people on this board really just like to see their friggin' name up on the screen. I can't figure another reason why shiitake mushroom like this drags on when there's no need for it. God forbid someone, anyone, actually might say "hmmm... maybe I may have been incorrect". Nope. Not on this board. NEVER. That would be like seeing the sun rise at midnight... Everyone's gotta be right to the bitter end.

Freakin' gongshow.

"It looks an awful lot like a television program to me."

Good lord...

Right!

The idiotic arguments in this forum never cease to amaze me. FFS.

I think it is clear from this case that the extra feature qualifies by the Rules as a Bonus Feature Film and may be profiled as such.

Moving forward, I think the Rules should be altered to allow films to be so profiled that were released independent from the main feature of the subject DVD/Blu-ray (not specially produced as special feature material for DVD/Blu-ray).  This should include TV programs, theatrical films and direct to DVD/Blu-ray productions.

I'm not quite sure I understand why you feel the rules need modification if in fact this documentary already clearly qualifies as a Bonus Feature Film.

In fact, the rules already do exactly as you suggest with the lone exception of "Any video documentary material regarding the film, or those associated with it", and that exception is apparently null and void or else The Battle Over Citizen Kane could not "clearly" be a Bonus Feature Film.

However, I'm not opposed to removing sections of the rules that are thought by the majority to be invalid.

My reason for suggesting the rule change is that whether or not the Docu in question had had a theatrical run, I think it is a bona fide bonus film in keeping with the spirit of the rule.  If the publisher arranges to have a previously released episode from a TV show or a direct to video film added to a release of a film or TV show, because of the subject matter or its relationship to the main feature, I think it is worthy of being profiled--providing it is on its own disc of course.

It seems you are twisting the situation.  This has nothing to do with the rule being invalid.  The majority feel that this qualifies as a bonus feature film because it is, in fact, a feature film.  It has nothing to do with the rule being invalid.  As far as I can tell, you are the only one who feels that is what is going on here.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

And in keeping with the letter of the rule I believe it's (unfortunately) material that's defined as a featurette.

I'd like to see the day where we can profile everything from the main feature all the way down to the featurettes made specifically for the DVD release, and everything in between.  Maybe one day we'll get there.

That's certainly possible.
