Arguing about capitals and arguing about a one-off ruling about capitals... I'd thought I'd seen this forum at the height of it's stupidity...

You think this is as stupid as we can get?  Really???

I'm almost offended!

It's gotta be close... right? I mean, pretty damn close. Capital letters?? Whether an o is o or O? In a database that largely ignores capitalization rendering it fairly freakin' moot? I mean... DAMN close. I've seen a lot of s**t around here that makes me go REALLY? But capital letters? REALLY???

The night is calling. And it whispers to me soflty come and play.

A couple more silly...

Ben-Hur: A Tale of Christ 1925 contribution
A 14 pages discussion to find if the title is Ben-Hur: a Tale of the Christ or Ben-Hur a Tale of the Christ
SRP
A 23 pages discussion because a contributor contribute a 28.98$ retail price to replace 29.99$
Capitalization of "Is"
A poll to decide if we write is or Is with a 7 pages discusion
How many contributions?
an old favorite of mine where bbbb wants to break a contribution record
King and I or Rodgers & Hammerstein's King and I??
Another what is the title. 10 pages for something quite obvious
Alan Smithee
7 pages discusision to decide if he is a director who did a lot of crap or an alias
Stephen King's "It"
Another of those possesive discussion, 12 pages before the lock
Civility
what do you expect from this? 11 pages of non-civility
DVD ratings
Do we use adult for non adult, 5 pages(1). The thread who made me stop contributing...
simple question about overview
Simple doesn't exist here, 6 pages
Capitalization of 'I, ROBOT'?
Yeah another what is the title topic, pretty much everyone agree on the poll but 5 pages anyway.
Fixing an obvious error in the end credits
and it is if you look the screencapture, guess who turn this as a 18 pages thread

I think it's enough even I'm just in july 2008

(1) and after all those years I continue to think I was right and it was a stupid discussion. If the parents are not able to judge by themselves what their children can or can't watch I can easilly understand why the kids are so stupid those days. The large part of a parent job is to educate their chidren, this is not my job or anybody else job...

Anyway this is a little bit of-topic

Indeed. Any way speaking of sites i came across this.

www.dvdloc8.com

It's been going since 2004

Some information on this forum

http://forum.digital-digest.com/f4/new-site-launch-dvdloc8-com-locate-compare-collect-41462.html

Perhaps maybe buy-out and a couple of tweaks here and updates here and there. It could be make for something special.

This is great    You should start a poll where we can vote on which reached the greatest "height of stupidity".  It's a tough choice but I think I'd go for the SRP one.
Do you ever find yourself striving for perfection with an almost worthless attempt at it?  Guttermouth "Lemon Water".  Also, I include in my Profiler database VHS tapes, audio DVDs, audio books (digital, cassette and CD), video games (digital, DVD and CD) and 'enhanced' CDs with video tracks on them, as well as films and TV I've bought digitally.  So I'm an anarchist, deal with it.  Just be thankful I don't include most of my records and CDs etc in it too; don't think I haven't been tempted...

It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

I check the old board expecting to find more, but I'm surprise by the fact that I haven't found one really worthy of the silly tag yet (I'm only in 2003, so maybe it was different than). But there a lot of angry thread about bad profile approved.

But I've found this one that made my jaw drop, not because it's silly but because of who wrote "IF one needs assistance with a genre for a specific title IMDB is a pretty good source.".

I don't get that one at all

Done with IMDB
Someone post he will not use imdb anymore for the cast credit, will correct the profile to reflect what is written in the film credits and the first reply is "don't do that"...

So in the last 5 or so years nothing has changed. I know you're not picking on a certain person but he seems to be a major problem since the start. Why is he still here?

No I'm not picking on a single user (BTW if it's the one I think of, he act much better those day). I just try to find some silly discussion from the past as it can be fun to re-read some of them.

And if I recall correctly we all have our fair share in the "Silly-Department", and this explicitly includes myself.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
