Unfortunately with Tim's attitude the problem is going to get much worse before my DVDs get out of storage. If it were my choice I would have them out, but...I answer to the other half. I hope that Tim will either voluntarily decide to stop, or that Ken will revisit his decision so that Tim will stop hiding behind him.

I very clearly see that Tim is not interested in either the Community nor the quality of the database and that makes me unhappy.

It is not I that keeps asking for proof, at this point I can only talk about what io am seeing and will not go into specifics. It is Tim that wants something which i have publicly said I cannot do right now. But he is very clearly causing problems. All he has to do is recognize the flaw in what he is doing and STOP trying to make HIS collection the default data source for the whole world.

The only thing I will add is that I am not looking forward to that day when I can start doing audits., because then I will have a pretty clear picture of just massive the problem is and ....well I am out of words.

For the general user: Skip, you keep saying you won't go into specifics but why not?  If you went into specifics it would help alert the rest of us know what to look for if we get a contribution from T!M.

I have explained this before but since you are new i will do so again. 99% of my collection is boxed and in storage in preparation for a move at some point, maybe 3 months, maybe next year who knows. What I have right now is my data and a handful of titles. I can say right niow that I can see variations between what Tim claims and my data, but some of that data dates back several years and I have no idea whether or not it may have become corrupted and that I won't KNOW until I get out of storage. I won't be specific without better knowledge on more point. We do know that what Tim does is a genuine problem andthis been discussed, cussed, re-cussed and then discussed some more, and probably will continue to be cussed until Ken decides to stop being a tree for Tim to hide behind. It's clear that the Community thinks that what Tim is doing is not good, and we factually know Cast and Crew can vary across Versions, Regions and Localities. Tim tries to minimize it, while I will always say one error is one too many.

Thanks for asking.

Because he doesn't have anything specific - it's pretty hard to back up a bunch of lies.

The irony of all this that I haven't seen make Skip a single fully correct contribution in years - oh, let me correct that: there was one cover scans-only contribution that actually was an improvement. But other than that, they're all filled with blatant errors, lots of typos, and misconceptions about just about every rule imaginable. As richierich noted in the first post of this thread:

I've found that, too. Having seen that, it's pretty amazing to have to see him questioning the work done by others.

Yes, that's me actually fixing your errors. How you manage to twist me fixing your errors into something bad never ceases to amaze me.

Thankyou.  I won't lie but I have voted yes on each submission I have seen of Tims so far and I don't think I have voted incorrectly as with the couple of instances, the notes have been good.  After reading some of the forums, I have definately looked very closely at his submissions and not had a problem, at least with my interpretation of the rules and other forum posts by Ken.  I will continue to look as I do with all submissions and vote accordingly.  Even if you are Hitler, or worse, Lady bloody Gaga, if the info is good I will vote yes.

Ok, I'm confused.

You say that your collection is in storage....then how are you going through it doing audits? How can you be up to 'C' as you've stated?

Are you getting things out of storage to edit them and then returning them to storage?

If so - why can't you give examples of T!M's supposed bad behaviour? If you're not getting your titles out of storage what are you basing your profile changes on? Memory?

Just curious!

The "hiding behind Ken" stuff is really insulting and I wish you would stop that.

It's interesting that you note you are contributing without benefit of having the disc in hand, yet that is what you are complaining about T!M. Several of the errors I've seen in your overviews come from the fact that the cover scans are hard to read. Since you are contributing solely off cover scans, you have one up now where you admit you can't do the footnote because it's not clear in the scan.

It really made me question when you listed the film credits as the source for that studio you added since you don't have the disc, but I let it slide since you listed a source.

And you had to go with your personal knowledge for the media company on A Beautiful Mind since there's no media company name in the scan. Fortunately someone grabbed their copy to get the info from the insert...yet you still questioned the validity of that.

I believe your intentions are good in spite of your errors. I wish you could extend the same to others.

I see Pantheon beat me to this point while I was composing.

Skip is not contributing cast and crew changes, he is only contributing things he can verify from the cover scans...mostly overview formatting and MCs...at least that is what he is doing for profiles that I own.

He is comparing the existing cast and crew with what he has in his local profile, not the actual film credits.  That, at least from what I can deduce, is why he isn't giving examples.

Correct, Unicus.

And I am ading some BY that I can verify, but that is not part of the film credits per se. At least I haven't seen any BY data in any creds, but with Hollywood...who knows.

BTW, James, if it has ever happened with me I suspect it is a rare, I don't work that way.

However, this issue with richie and yourself is somthing that i have been watching for weeks on each and evry chance you both get. You iced it for me, when you got notes edited to fix a problem, it did not take a new Contribution just edited notes, and you changed your vote to neutral. I then realized that you were voting from an agenda, what it is, I don't and i don't care.

Skip

Do not make assumptions about me please. You would not know if I voted neutral, or if I hadn't returned to a profile to vote at all. I am happy for Ken to publicly show my voting, I have no agenda personally, or in conjunction with James. And to dispel your spin and muddy the water by actually using facts, I have voted yes on many of your submissions once corrected.
I realised from the fact i had to tell you twice the footnote *1962 in one of your submissions that you were only using rear cover scans to amend profiles. Based on that I would not vote yes on the titles where you were also changing studios, based solely on viewing a credit block on rear scan not the actual disc. Please note I didn't vote no either.
Do I take pleasure that of the last 18 profiles I have seen you try and amend, I have found 14 with errors? No. As I said in my comments - just please check the text prior to submission.

Anyway this is getting tedious now. As you have said to Tim twice here, please view and heed the poll results, and be a man and admit you were wrong to make accusations about me violating my voting priveleges.

I did not insult you. You may be offended that I would talk about your contributions, but I did not insult you as a person. Certainly nothing I said comes close to how aggressively you speak of others in the forum.
