Plot:

My Thoughts:
This is the first time I ever seen this movie. But I wasn't concerned a bit going in as I always have enjoyed the Mel Brooks movies I have seen... as I like his silly style of spoofing, And I enjoyed this one as well... but it won't be one of my favorites of his. I think the main problem I had with this one was there were (IMO) too many music scenes. I think it would have been much better without them. I know there is many people out there that don't like this type of movie... and I admit it is not for everyone... so I can't say I straight out recommend it. But if you like the work of Mel Brooks I definitely think you should give it a go.

My Thoughts:
Even though this is a (lets admit it) a stupid idea for a movie. It definitely has it's moments... and is really an entertaining movie. I think that is on the strengths of the stars. Danny DeVito and Arnold Schwarzenegger make a great team. The way Arnold portrayed a man being feminine and going through the physical and emotional symptoms of pregnancy definitely had a few laughs. Though over-all I wouldn't call this one a favorite. And I personally think that DeVito & Schwarzeneggar were better together in the movie Twins.  But this one is still enjoyable anyway.

My Thoughts:
This is a movie I have never seen before today. But I have been hearing how good it is for years. So been wanting to see it for some time now. I just hope I am not going into this one with too high of expectations. Before putting the movie in I watched the trailer in profiler... which made me want to see the movie even more. Then I glanced at the cast list to see if there was any other big names in it besides Kathy Bates and Jennifer Jason Lee. And I was a bit surprised to see the name Ellen Muth as a Young Selena (Jennifer Jason Lee's Character). For those of you that don't know or remember... Ellen Muth starred in the series Dead Like Me as George Lass... the recently dead girl turned reaper. This is the first thing other then Dead Like Me that I had the chance to see her in.

This movie was quick to grab... and keep my attention. Until the opening credits showed it... I completely forgot that this movie was based on a Stephen King novel. But I shouldn't be surprised as much as I enjoyed it... as I have always enjoyed all of the movies and miniseries I have seen based off his work.  I thought that the entire cast did a wonderful job on this one. I also liked the way they told the story... bringing out what they needed to as they needed to do so. Superbly using flashbacks. And that is coming from someone that don't usually like flashbacks in movies. But when done right they can really help to advance the story. And they were definitely done right here. This turned out to be a great movie to start the day off with. If you are like me... and never gotten the chance to watch this movie... I highly recommend it!

Fly Away Home is a cute kids one (with Anna Paquin if I'm thinking of the right movie). You may want to watch with your daughter. I just recently rewatched and enjoyed it. It's not the fastest moving movie, but the last 20-30 minutes are my favorite.

Why can't a girl like both? I did! Well, not horror, but I love action/adventure. My dad got me into Star Trek/Star Wars by the time I was 6. My (much) older sibs decided that it was ok for me to watch horror when I was that age too, so I got a bit too freaked out and don't like it now. I like the campy horror (love Bruce Campbell) but not the real stuff.

I wouldn't say Fly Away Home is saccharine sweet. It is based on a true story and it's kind of fun to know that and at the end they update the real life stuff. They do focus on the father/daughter relationship. The mother had custody until they were in a car accident and after the dad started raising the girl who is...resistant to that idea. They eventually find a common ground (the geese) and work together to get the geese flying and migrating.

So, I'd say cute, but not necessarily saccharine.

If you get a chance and haven't watched, try Bubba Ho-tep or Sundown: The Vampire In Retreat. Both Bruce Campbell movies so both funny horror. Sundown has David Carradine in it, who is another of my favorite actors. I think if she's watching Evil Dead II, she might enjoy those as well...and maybe you might as well! (I see you have Bubba Ho-tep, have you seen yet? Watched with my mother who is a huge Elvis fan and it was a fun time. lol!)

I tried convincing Britt (my daughter) to watch Fly Away Home with me... but she completely refuses.  I guess no horror and no superheroes so she don't even want to give it a try.
