Interesting doesn't even begin to cover it.

I actually agree with Skip here. Outtakes is not by definition Bloopers, and if the DVD creators choose to label them as Outtakes, this is what should be entered into the profile IMO. But hey, I see I belong to the minorty, so I guess my opinion is moot...

Alas, the rules say Outtakes are by definition Bloopers.

Deleted Scenes Deleted Scenes, Alternate Scenes, Alternate endings available through a separate menu option, and not incorporated into the main feature or a documentary.

Outtakes/Bloopers Footage, generally mistakes, captured during filming, generally humorous. Occasionally, outtakes are scripted (e.g. animated outtakes).

OMG, is there nothing that can be dealt with easily. I don't see this as any sort of controversy, it is very clear to me.             Astounding.

So, how would this be classified?  Bloopers, outakes, deleted scenes, or neither?

As far as I can see, this discussion is about what we are profiling in DVDP: are we profiling actual disc contents or are we profiling disc menus? Both are hard data, that's not the issue. To me, the answer is pretty obvious - and supported by the descriptions in the Disc Features section of the Contribution Rules.

If we were to profile disc menus, then all we would need is a website containing UPCs/Disc IDs and images of the corresponding disc menus.

The strength of DVDP over other cataloging software is that its database holds data on the actual disc contents. And yes, I have encountered cases where the descriptions in menus are off or even where the labeling of subtitles on discs - as shown by your DVD player through its Subtitle button - is off (especially in oriental releases). With a view on such cases I'm always happy to be able to make corrections and have the profile reflect what's ACTUALLY on the disc. I see no valid reason to all of a sudden diminish DVDP's functionality in cases like these.

Faux featuette would be a better term, but I'd lean towards deleted scenes. I know, a deleted scene called faux featurette!
The question is, did any of this appear in any aired cartoon? Is just the behind the scenes new?

If a normal live action movie, it would be a featuette. Since it had to be created by someone to appear, and if not meant for air, then d.s. or outtakes. I'd lean more towards deleted scenes since it had to animated just like anything included in episodes for air.

To me, outtakes are more blown lines, alternate camera angles or alternate takes/lines.
