Title: The Return of the Living Dead: Collector's Edition
Movie Count: 19
TV Ep. Count:  6
Other Count:  4
Time Started:  4pm

Plot:
Just when you though it was safe to go back to the cemetery - those brain eating zombies are back and hungry for more tasty mortals. A fiendish mix of outrageous humor and heart-stopping terror. The Return of the Living Dead is a "veritable smorgasbord of fun" (LA Herald-Examiner) filled with skin-crawling jolts, eye-popping visuals and relentless suprise!

On his first day on the job at an army surplus store, poor Freddy unwittingly releases nerve gas from a secret U.S. military canister, unleashing a unbelievable terror. The gas re-animates a corps of corpses, who arise from their graves with a ravenous hunger for human brains! And luckily for those carnivorous cadavers, there is a group of partying teens nearby, just waiting to be eaten!

My Thoughts:
I picked this DVD up the other day. Wanted to upgrade to the Collector's Edition. This is a movie I have always enjoyed quite a bit. It has a nice mixture of horror and comedy that is just fun to watch. I really liked Linnea Quigley's character in this one. And thought it was a nice touch that they made it so her worse fear is realized in this movie. I decided to watch this with the easter egg subtitle track on. There is a zombie subtitle track where all you get is grrr's ugghhh's.. this is not the one I am talking about here. If you go to that zombie subtitle track... highlight "Off" and press up on your remote you will be on a hidden red brain. Press enter here and you get a note from the zombies saying they didn't like how they were portrayed in that subtitle track.... that they are not mindless like that. And you get the option of subtitles of the zombie's thoughts. This is the one I watched. And let me tell you... I enjoyed it quite a bit. There was more then once that I was literally laughing out loud reading these "Zombie Thoughts". I felt it really added to the movie. Of course it I wouldn't watch this movie with them on all the time... but I do see it as something I would want to do again.

My Rating: 4/5

ZA: Zombies Anonymous

Region 1

Released: 5/6/2008

1.78

What They Say:
Angela (Gina Ramsden) is shot point blank by her boyfriend Josh (Joshua Nelson) and lives... in a world where the living and the dead co-exist, people continuously find ways to cope and look for answers. Angela finds zombie anonymous meetings, look alive face creams, all meat diners which help the mortally challenged find their way in this bizarre society.

Z.A. takes you on an unforgettable ride where life meets death, or does it?

What I say:
This movie gets a Thumbs up from me .  While it still has the gore and fleash eating zombie parts for the most part this movie deals with the social issues of zombies and the living co-existing when zombies retain all their memories and personalities.  They're just... Dead.

The only issue i found with the movie is it appears a part was cut before the last part and leaves you going "Huh? How did we get to this point?"  Other then that I was plesently suprised by this movie.

Title: Twilight
Movie Count:  20
TV Ep. Count:  6
Other Count:  4
Time Started:  6:45am

Plot:
Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) doesn’t expect much when she moves to the small town of Forks, Washington, until she meets the mysterious and handsome Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson)—a boy who’s hiding a dark secret: he’s a vampire. As their worlds and hearts collide, Edward must battle the bloodlust raging inside him as well as a coterie of undead that would make Bella their prey. Based on the #1 New York Times best-selling sensation by Stephenie Meyer, Twilight adds a dangerous twist to the classic story of star-crossed lovers.

My Thoughts:
When I got this DVD (a belated Birthday Gift) I heard a lot of people tell me this movie was terrible. It isn't even a horror movie... even though there are vampires. And so on. That made me to have to think about whether or not I wanted to add it to this marathon. But I decided to go ahead and add it since I have always considered this a horror/Halloween marathon. And I believe vampires whether in a horror setting or not fits in nicely with the Halloween theme. At least with all the bad reviews I got on this movie I am able to go into this one with very low expectations. And I figured that may help me to enjoy it more then most have.

I know that the vampire legend is one thing that the makers of the movies take a lot of creative licenses with. I have seen so many variations I couldn't begin to count them all. Even after watching this movie I am not sure how I feel about it. Some parts of it I felt were good. I really enjoyed the side story of the killings and the protection of Bella. Even though it is only slight... it put a horror aspect into the show for me. I absolutely hated the aspect of how they changed the effects of sunlight on vampires, though that did explain away how they could be out in the day time. I did kind of like the fact that there could be good and bad vampires... just like in the human race. I didn't care much for the narration of Bella's in portions of the movie. The idea of the narration wasn't bad.... but the flowery romance novel like writing of it put me off.

So going with all these conflicting feelings of this movie... I am having a hard time judging how I want to rate this one. How much of this movie was good in my eyes... and how much of it wasn't? In this case that is a tough question for me. I am not sorry this is in my collection... but I am also glad that it is not one I actually paid to put there. And is not one I see upgrading to the two disc version. It is however one I could see watching again... though not very often. And I can see myself seeing any sequel it spawns. What does this mean? I guess it means it is a fairly average movie so I should give it a fairly average rating. What is average on a scale of 1-5... I guess I should split it right down the middle.

My Rating: 2.5/5

Title: R.L. Stine's Mostly Ghostly
Movie Count:  21
TV Ep. Count:  6
Other Count:  4
Time Started:  10am

Plot:
Max is hardly a typical 11-year-old: he loves magic, detests sports, and can't seem to say a single word to his crush, Traci, the most popular girl in school. But when he's the only one who can see the ghosts haunting his house, two young spirits make him the deal of a lifetime: he'll help them solve the mystery of their parents' disappearance and battle a wicked ghoul, if they'll help him go from being invisible to the most talked-about kid at school!

Featuring an all-star cast including Madison Pettis (The Game Plan), Ali Lohan (TV's Living Lohan), Luke Benward (How to Eat Fried Worms), Noah Cyrus (TV's Hannah Montana) and Sterling Beaumon (Four Christmases), it's one spooky mishap after another in this haunted adventure! Filled with thrills, chills and hilarious spills, R.L. Stine's Mostly Ghostly will have the whole family on the edge of their seats!

My Thoughts:
When I bought this for my daughter, Brittany the other day I promised her I would watch it with her this weekend. I found myself actually looking forward to it since I have enjoyed the other R.L. Stine stuff with her in the past. The first thing I noticed is that the look of the first ghost you see looks familiar. It took me a few... but then I realized he looked much like the Creep in the movie Creepshow 2 (the cartoon in between the segments). It is a cute movie with some nice chuckles in it. Definitely more for the kids then the adults. But it has some fun for all.

Title: May
Movie Count: 7
Pretty good movie but the first half is rather slow while the movie sets up the main character.
She is shy and in her own little shell. Her only friend is a doll her mom gave her but she is not allowed to touch.  Not very good with people skills, with her seamstress skills, she decides to make a new friend, literally!

Title: From Disc 2 ;She-Wolf of London
Movie Count: 8
More of a murder mystery than a horror, disappointing.
Title: From Disc 2 ;Werewolf of London
Movie Count: 9
A lot better than She-Wolf, but not as good as The Wolfman

Title: Supernatural
Movie Count:  21
TV Ep. Count:  8
Other Count:  4
Time Started:  6:15pm

Plot:
Sympathy for the Devil
Sam, Dean & Bobby deal with the aftermath of the devil rising from Hell; Chuck has stunning news for the brothers.

Good God Y'all
In hopes of defeating Lucifer, Castiel decides to search for God; Bobby's friend, Rufus, begs for help when demons begin attacking his town

My Thoughts:
Sympathy for the Devil
Finally getting to watch the start of the new season. This is a pretty good episode. While I like the storyline with the devil... I am more ready to see them deal with some standard evil as well.

Good God Y'all
This episode I enjoyed a lot. The brother goes up against one of the 4 horsemen of the Apocalypse. And ends with a bit of a cliffhanger as well.

My Rating:
Sympathy for the Devil - 4/5
Good God Y'all - 4.5/5

Title:  Pooh's Heffalump Halloween Movie
Movie Count: 4
Other Count: 2

It's Lumpy's first Halloween, and Roo's excited to take him trick-or-treating and show him all the fun of the holiday, but Lumpy is scared.  But together with Roo, he might just find enough bravery to try to catch the dreaded Gobloon so they can wish for more candy after Pooh eats it all.

A cute, cute, cute Halloween cartoon.  The perfect feature for little kids or to share with friends who like Halloween but are too easily scared for horror movies; a new seasonal favorite.

Verdict: 3/5 (good movie, solidly entertaining, worth watching)
If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.

I've read all the books and loved them. But - Twilight is the weakest of the four IMO. I enjoyed the film but felt the pacing was too slow on first viewing.
However, go into this film expecting a romance and then I think it's a better viewing experience.

I'm also really looking forward to the sequel, New Moon, as it's my favourite of the books and really picks up the pace.

Sorry you didn't rate this, Pete.

Title: Black Christmas: Special Edition
Movie Count:  22
TV Ep. Count:  8
Other Count:  4
Time Started:  7am

Plot:
The college town of Bedford is receiving an unwelcome guest this Christmas. As the residents of sorority house Pi Kappa Sig prepare for the festive season, a demonic stranger begins to stalk the house.

A series of grisly obscene phone-calls start to plague the residents of the sorority and soon they will each meet their fate at the hands of the psychotic intruder.

As the Police try to trace the phone calls, they discover that nothing is as it seems during this BLACK CHRISTMAS.

Starring Olivia Hussey, Keir Dullea, Margot Kidder, Andrea Martin and John Saxon. Bob Clark's Black Christmas predates Halloween by 4 years and is now widely acknowledged as the inventor of the modern slasher film.

My Thoughts:
I been wanting to see this one for a long time now. I have always heard a lot of good things about this movie. Despite that... I tried to go into this movie with low expectations. And I enjoyed it very much. I found myself glued to my seat watching through-out the entire movie. It was pretty cool to see Margot Kidder in one of her earlier roles. And she happened to have my favorite kill in the movie. For those of you that don't like gore... there is no worries here. There is really no blood and gore. It is all left to the imagination. If you have never seen this movie... I highly recommend it.

Title: Fear Itself
Movie Count:  22
TV Ep. Count:  10
Other Count:  4
Time Started: 10:45am

Fear Itself Plot:
Terror has a new name: "Fear Itself"!  A 13-episode suspence and horror anthology series, "Fear Itself" takes horror to shocking new heights with its mix of mind-bending stories, spine-tingling chills, and top Hollywood talent including acclaimed directors John Landis (An American Werewolf in London), Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw II, Saw III and Saw IV) and Ronnie Yu (Bride of Chucky); actors Brandon Routh (Superman Returns), Shiri Appleby (Charlie Wilson's War), Elizabeth Moss ("Mad Men"), Cynthia Watros ("Lost"), Eric Roberts ("Heroes") and John Billingsley ("Star Trek: Enterprise"); and writers Joe Gangemi (Wind Chill, the novel "Inamorata"), Steve Niles (30 Days of Night) and Dan Knauf ("Carnivale," "Supernatural").

Eater Plot:
Rookie cop Danny Bannerman spends the night in an isolated precinct guarding a serial killer who eats his victims and is intent on making Danny his next "meal."

Spooked Plot:
While on a stakeout in a haunted house,  a private eye hired by a mysterious woman is forced to confront the demons of his past.

My Thoughts:
This is a horror anthology series that I watched some episodes of when it originally aired. At that time I found the episodes to be very uneven. You got some really good episodes... and some that I would say is just fair. The first thing I noticed about this DVD set is the packaging. Sure... the tombstone packaging looks cool... but it definitely don't look to safe for the DVDs. The Tombstone is a digipak... with 2 discs on each side... overlapping discs. And if that isn't bad enough they are duel sided discs! Why would they even use duel sided disc? There is only 4 episodes per disc... which could easily fit on 1 side of a disc... but they decide to put only 2 episodes on each side of a disc. The next thing I noticed is that the episodes are not in the order that they aired. Sure only 8 of the 13 episodes actually aired on TV... but I think they should have put those 8 first... in order they aired and then did the final 5 in order they were made.

Eater:
This is one of the episodes I actually missed when it was on TV. It is the 4th episode to air. I really wish I seen this one on TV as it may have given me some more hope for the series... as I really liked this one a lot. Sure there was some problems with it.... some good sized plot holes and such. But it was entertaining... and kept my interest throughout the episode.

Spooked:
This is one of the few that I have seen before. Spooked is the second one to air... so this one is actually in the right spot in the set. It is one of the good episodes... I enjoyed it quite a bit. Though I will say it was a little on the weird side. But it has a good ghost story atmosphere to it. Definitely worth watching.

My Rating:
Eater: 4/5
Spooked: 4/5

Cravings

Region 1

Released: 8/4/2009

Anamorphic 1.85

What They Say:
Nina, a troubled teen, is fixed on an uninterrupted feast of destruction when she's forced to confront her immortality and twisted blood lust. Trapped between light and dark, psychosis and reality, the living and the dead; she'll stop at nothing to satiate her Cravings. Every addiction has a price and usually it's the cost of a life. Her price will be life too...but never her own.

What I Say:
Was sort of expecting a vampire film going in but got something different.  A Therapist that has issues and a teen that has issues equals one interesting film.  While not a vampire Nina does have a taste for Blood and things keep escalating through the film.  Add in the ghost of the therapist's wife and you have a suspense filled ride though this film.  I give this a Thumbs up!

Plot:
Free to Be You and Me
Sam thinks about giving up hunting; Dean and Castiel team up to find Raphael.

The End
Sam wants to rejoin Dean om tje nayy;e pf tje apocalypse, but Dean thinks they are better apart.

My Thoughts:
Free to Be You and Me
A good episode... enjoyed it quite a bit. Not only bring the story along nicely... there was a few laughs in this one as Dean had some great one liners.

The End
At the end of the last episode... when they showed the preview for this one I wasn't sure how I would feel about it. It seemed like Dean was going to take a jump forward in time for about 5 years. Don't get me wrong... I don't mind time travel stories... I actually usually enjoy them. But for a series such as this I think it has to be done in the right way... and it was as I enjoyed every minute of it. Enjoyed this one even more then the last. Though they did play it more seriously... didn't give Dean any good one liners this time.

My Rating:
Free to Be You and Me: 4/5
The End: 4.5/5

Title:  House on Haunted Hill
Movie Count:  5
Other Count:  2

In a house where multiple murders have occurred and multiple ghosts are reputed to lurk, five guests are challenged to spend the night by an eccentric millionaire, with the promise of $10,000 each in the morning ... if they live through the night.

A wonderful performance by Vincent Price as Mr. Laren, cool and menacing, is the best thing about this film.  The atmosphere is appropriately creepy, and the script has some wonderfully witty repartee between Price and Carol Ohmart.  I was also pleased by Carolyn Craig's performance, and I found the rest of the cast to be solid (if not outstanding).  If the effects are a bit cheesy at points, one has to think that this is an older, low-budget film and shouldn't be held to today's standards of special effects.

Verdict: 2.5/5 (a tolerable, entertaining waste of time)*

* 3/5 for Vincent Price's performance and the witty dialogue between his character & Ohmart's, but the rest of the cast isn't up to a full 3 for the film
If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.

Title: The Lost Boys: Two-Disc Special Edition
Movie Count:  23
TV Ep. Count:  12
Other Count:  4
Time Started:  8:45am

Plot:
Sam and his older brother Michael are all-American teens with all-American interests. But after they move with their mother to peaceful Santa Carla, California, things mysteriously begin to change. Michael's not himself lately.  And Mom's not going to like what he's turning into.

'The Lost Boys' reshapes vampire tradition, deftly mixing heart-pounding terror, rib-tickling laughs and a body-gyrating rock soundtrack. Under Joel Schumacher's direction, a marvelous cast - Jason Patric, Jami Gertz, Kiefer Sutherland, Corey Feldman, Corey Haim, Barnard Hughes and Edward Herrmann - stakes you to gleefully ghoulish entertainment.

My Thoughts:
Definitely one of my favorite Vampire movies... one I have seen countless times that I never tire of. This movie is the first thing I ever seen Keifer Sutherland in... and I think he did an awesome job in it. I also think Jason Patric did a great job as Michael. and I definitely couldn't help but to enjoy the Old Fart (Grandpa)... I just get such a kick out of him and all the stuffed animals he gave to Sam. Definitely one I would highly recommend to any horror fan... especially vampire fans. Though I do believe most all horror fans probably seen this one by now!

Title: Visitors of the Night
Movie Count:  24
TV Ep. Count:  12
Other Count:  4
Time Started:  6:45am

Plot:
Judith (Markie Post. There's Something About Mary) notices some very creepy things are happening around town. She and the town's sheriff make a chilling discovery, the town's teens are disappearing. When they recover they are suffering from amnesia. Judith is even more troubled when her daughter, Katie (Candace Cameron, Full House), is missing. When she returns and begins acting strangely, it becomes evident alien powers have taken over the town. Judith must stand up to her fears and rid the town of the aliens that have come to claim her daughter.

My Thoughts:
This is one of then movies I bought blind this month. From what I understand this is a TV Movie that I believe originally aired on Lifetime. I bought it not only because the plot sounded interesting... but I used to watch Markie Post in Night Court and Candace Cameron in Full House. Besides... the DVD was right cheap. While this really wasn't what I was expecting... I did enjoy this movie.

My Rating: 3/5

OK Everyone... I am very sad to say it looks like this is the end of my marathon. Real life gave me one hell of a smack in the face this month. I enjoyed what I could do... even though it was next to nothing. But hey... I will be around... and will be saying hi everyone!
