OMB.

Indeed. We don't need to know the "medium", we don't need to know the "context" - it's just plain and simple OMB every time.

But we also don't know whether the premise included the characters, so you can't say it's OCB with any confidence.

Tell me what the medium is for a Premise and maybe I'll go with you.  But I don't think you can because it's inherently vague and we have no way of knowing what it is.

It's not OCB. It's OMB. And we don't need to know what the medium is.

I agree with James on this.  The rules say that OMB is "Adapted from another medium."  We don't have to define the other medium, it just has to be different than the one being profiled.  If the profile is for a film, anything other than film is 'another medium'.  If the profile is for a TV series, anything other than a TV series is 'another medium'.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

I don't have time for it anymore until I see another credit.

Always happy to oblige:

Nice try Tim, but that is not a Premise By, which IS the subject of this thread. Repeating what I have said before, James can chase his tail all he wants, and you can chase it with him, it does NO GOOD, this thread is finished and  there is NOT another Premise By on the horizon. And likely never will be, this was an interesting academic exercise for awhikle now it has simply become utterly foolish. Have fun with your tails, guys, let me know what happens if you catch it.

Well...I must say I am disappointed. I contribute a wonderful puzzle of a forum posting and I only get 6 pages of commentary. What ever happened to the good old days when I could count on at least hitting double digits?!?

So "Based on a true story" is always an OMB credit?  To whom?

A / True / Story ?

Or A / / True Story?
