Divergent credits are already rather rare, but erroneous contributions absolutely unproven.

At worst eradicated by our voting and screening process.

So T!M is right.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Not one single user cares about whether credits differ between different home video releases of the same film in all these bbbbB-bbBbb-Bbbbb common name type of topics.

What is your opinion about those surveys, and their results?

Careful, bbbb. First off if I know Ubicus he DOES care aand so do I. DOn't presume to ralk for me, when you make such sweeping comments. But even if we are the ONLY two that should not be discounted.

Mike I am right there with you, and I will wager  that you could have guessed that.

How can you claim that not one single user cares? Have you spoken to all of us, or even bothered reading this whole thread?

I even read "Why keep some people changing contributions from other countries ?", "Clayton Hartley/ Clayton R Hartley/ Clayton R. Hartley/ Clay Hartley" and "José Ramón Rosario a.k.a. José Ramón Rosario a.k.a. José Rosario".

And compared with you I'm competent to draw conclusions from it.

How many of T!M's contributions have been proven wrong (regarding the topic credit variations between different regions, localities or formats)?

Not relevant, bbbbb. The problem is known and I can gaurantee were my films not currently in storage we would be finding errors, more to the point they would not be allowed bvbecause i would be verifying everyone of Tim's Contributions. I think we can safely say that probably 95% of what tim does is fine, but that 5% has problems due variations. One error is one error too many, 95% correct is not acceptable., not when it is a KNOWN problem.

Tim himself has already highlighted two such problems, which are very well-known and there are certainly more than that. And I f I recall there have been a couple of others pointed out already.

Also, bbbbb, you should not presume tio make broad sweeping assumptions such as you did which just patently are not true. What you do with those kind of statements is prove that you do not understand the difference between your local database, which has to meet ONLY your standards and the Online which must serve ALL users and because of this has Rules spelled out as they do. If you do not want your data to reflect the data online but instead meets some criteria which you have established for YOURSELF, that is fine, your database SHOULD serve your needs, but it is not right for you to then try and impose those standards on the rest of the worlds, which is in effect what Tim is doing, though it appears as though he MAY have stopped trying to adjust the entire world catalog to the standard of what he owns, I hope so anyway.

So if w do find some variantions from one region to another I would now suggest starting a new thread for them.

That said, I've recently compared almost all my cross region double dips in audits and none have anything different yet. When I saw 6 pages I thought "holy shiitake mushroom that's a lot of variations", but then I started scrolling through.

Should re-title this thread to something like "The discussion about a list of known credit variations" and a new one to actaully put them in.

I'm pretty sure that Tweeter provided 2 examples on page 3 of this thread.

Yea, we don't have that problem with my local lot.  Now, I can see doing what T!M is doing for smaller localities, but not for localities where there are plenty of people contributing.  I hate to say it, but the more I see, the more I am convinced this is about ego and nothing else.

Quite the contrary. I never heard one single user complain about the method these threads claim to determine the common name with. Or about the use of the results as source when contributing common name changes/additions.

Not quite the same thing as I believe the user does own the title but there's a submission currently up where the user is adding filmratings.com details to a UK profile. I'd be more likely to allow cast/crew to be just copied from one locality to another than I am to allow a different rating board's standards be copied to another locality!!

Well, this one is a rule violation as the rules tell us to use the region-specific ratings information website that is the equivalent to filmratings.com.
