No need for the sarcasm tag, this is the absolute truth.  If we aren't to use any common sense, the title would be exactly as you typed it.

That would be improper capitalization.  It would be 'Quantum of Solace 7™'

<Sarcasm>Why not? It's quite obvious that the title, based on the cover, should be Quantum 0f S0lace 7 </Sarcasm>

We would also get Casin0 R0yale 7 as well!

But the number 0 doesn't have any lower case equivalent.

True, but it isn't a zero, it is an 'O'.  He is double 'O' seven, not double zero seven.  This is mentioned many times, at least in all the films I have seen.

Unfortunately, us Brits are just as likely to call a zero an "oh" - 007 is all numbers.

It isn't just you Brits, we do it here as well, but that's besides the point.

Rules should be amended to state that title should come from the cover, but graphic design elements should not be included.

I agree. Titles need to be "readable". How do you pronounce Se7en or T4xi? Se-seven-en and T-four-xi?

Furthermore, why have unsearchable titles in the title field when you have much better representation of those graphical title in the cover image?  It seems to me that we are taking a very good program and ruining it with these crazy rules that make it completely unuseful for its intended purpose, a DVD database program.

You can't link actors/crew because of crazy parsing/as credited rule
You can't search for titles without knowing how some designer decided to make the cover

We are not ruining anything as those are all invelos rules.  If that is the way they want it, that is the way we do it.  Do I agree with all of the rules?  No, but it isn't my program.  I happen to agree with this rule and I have yet to have a problem finding a title I am looking for.

Agree totally with that. We must remember that at the beginning we had no rules, an excellent program and many contributions in many places.

Since some ping-ponging problems, Ken chose to accept strict rules proposed by users who were blinded by this problem, which, incidentaly, was far to be a real problem everywhere (Never saw it in my region/country).

Now, we have no more ping-ponging, but a hateful voting system which allows some users to play teachers and give good and bad marks, sticking with the most extreme interpretation of rules. The result is that many new profiles are no more contributed, or contributed with uncomplete information.

The program is a must, and by far the best to collect DVDs. But its success may suffer from those rules which become more and more inept, since they are followed at the letter, totally forgetting what is common sense (BTW, useless to say me that common sense is different for everybody, I know the opinion of those who just don't have any...)

Well we have now J*A*G: Judge Advocate General in the database. But what I noticed now is that it says J*A*G: Judge Advocate General: The Complete First Season but thats not what it says on the cover. It says J*A*G: Judge Advocate General: *The Complete First Season*. So should we not change it to that? If we include the stars we should include all of them in my opinion

It should be changed back. Here's Gerri Cole's decision on the matter:

For the purposes of special characters in the titles, if you can type it on a normal keyboard without using an upper ASCII character, then you can use it. So in this case, M*A*S*H would work, but the dots in between the letters in FRIENDS would not be appropriate.

How about JAG vs. J.A.G vs. J*A*G?

From what I can see, JAG is a star character, which would mean that you just use the letters.

This obviously also addresses your "*The Complete First Season*" question: we don't do any of the stars: neither the ones in the title, nor the ones aroud the season indicator.
