Hello Taro, your contributions will be very welcome.

One thing I cn recommend, is not keeping all your updates in 1 file. That's how I started. Pretty soon, I got the feedback people were getting bored of comparing the same images over and over again.

Just post your new updates and include some kind of date or version to differentiate your updates.

So welcome to a new contributor.

Thanks for the advice. You have more experience than I have in these matters so I'll take it to heart and do as you suggested.

Here's the first release. It's a small one but updates will follow, as I've only exported the profiles that are entirely done and I have many more in the pipeline that are only missing a few headshots:

Japanese Cast and Crew v1.0

feedback and corrections in case of errors are always welcome!

Thanks! Only a few comparison screens...

And I second cvermeylen's advice. Someone posted a quick guide somewhere in this thread, can't remember who it was. Anyway, a way to do that is to keep a manual profile just for your latest headshots you want to be included in the next update (just leave the cast role blank and only use director as crew role). It's a little bit more work for you, as you have to add all headshots twice, but many users here will thank you for that!

Japanese Cast & Crew files.

First of all, thanks to Muckl for explaining how to export these. I hope I did it right.

A few words of explanation:

Updates:
Updates will be added as soon as I get them ready and I'll use version numbers. The first release is V1.0. Smaller updates will be x.1, x.2 etc while bigger updates will change the first number, just like with software updates.

Sources:
I use only verified, Japanese sources for my headshots. That means that you might be able to find a better photo on other websites, but since those are either western (and many contain errors) or unverified, I prefer to stick to shots of which I'm pretty sure they are correct, even if it's not the most optimum picture.
I always rely on these source in this order (if source 1 is not available, then source 2, etc):
1. Official website of the actor or crew member
2. Official blog of the actor or crew member
3. Official agency of the actor
4. Official media company webpages
5. Official fanclub website of actor or crew member
6. Unofficial fanclub website of actor or crew member
as much as possible, I try to avoid n 6 but in some cases, that's the best I can get.

Some headshots are missing?
You'll notice that some headshots are missing but that's due to me being unable to find a verifiable picture of that person. Some voice actors of anime refuse to have their picture taken, thinking it takes away from the magic of the anime series they were cast in. For those rare instances, there won't be headshots.

You spelled the name differently!
In some cases, you might notice that my spelling differs from yours. That is because there is no standard for romanizing Japanese names in DVDP and most of my sources are Japanese discs. Please note that I always use waapuro as a romanization method, which should help you find the correct cast or crew member. I would advise everyone after importing my headshots to use GoodGuy's Name Variant plugin to quickly resolve these issues.

Birth Years
Some actors/crew members have a birth year. However, I will alwasy first add them, with documentation, to the master thread for accepted birth years in the contribution discussion forum. When in doubt, you can verify the BY there.

Here's the first release. It's a small one but updates will follow, as I've only exported the profiles that are entirely done and I have many more in the pipeline that are only missing a few headshots:

Japanese Cast and Crew v1.0

feedback and corrections in case of errors are always welcome!

Wow, what a thread.  It was an exhausting exercise but many thanks to every single person.  I have downloaded and gone through all but the last 2 (just waiting for free rapidshare timer to allow me).

Obviously I would like to attempt to repay the favour but I am a total technical retard.  I kind of understand the posts on page 1 but can someone put it into terms a 5 year old can understand?  How do I select the cast profiles to upload etc etc.

Again, many thanks to all.

OK, I did all of post 3.  Worked a treat.

How do I upload only the ones I want that may be of use for people?

Thanks!

Add a manual profile to your database
Add by title - deselect "Download profile from Invelos".
  Call the profile Headshots

When you update a headshot, add it to the Headshots profile (for crew, just use director for every member, don't loose your time by selecting the correct role).

When you are done. Make a full backup of your database.

Create a new database, called HMDB.

Open de new database, and perform a restore with the folowing options:
Select "Restore Specific Profiles" and select only the Headshots profile.
  Deselect "Replace Full User Database"

Perform a database repair with the following options:
  Select "Custom"
  Deselect "Preserve cast/crew with images"

This will remove all castmembers except those attached to the Headshots profile.

Now perform a database backup and select only "Include cast/crew databases, with photos".

Thanks cvermeylen.  My technical retardation got the better of me.

It's only 11 cast and 1 crew but just wanted to make sure I did it right before trying a larger one. Pics for most were hard to come by (small bit roles, documentary).  Before anyone mentions it, Joe Soares pic really is of him and not Woody Harrelson.  They just look like long lost twins

No BY or nudes:

If someone could make sure I've done it right before trying a bigger update that would be great.  Thanks.
