The rules tell us exactly what to list: List the Studios in the following priority.
Theatrical Release Studio(s) Production Company(s)
Nothing else. It does not tell us to list the theatrical distributor. What is so hard to understand?
Please define Theatrical Release Studio(s) for me. Is it in the rules? Is WB not a Theatrical Release Studio?
It's simple. Oriion owns the picture. WB distributes it to the theaters. WB didn't make it, nor do they own it. Nothing unusual about it. Here in Sweden for example all Twentieth Century Fox Pictures are released thru Svensk Filmindustri, which only means they distributed it. They had nothing to do with the making of the film. But they do put their fancy logo up on the screen so you need to know a bit about how these things work, it's not just copy and paste.
I'm familiar with the situation, but the rules do not say NOT to include it, and WB is a Theatrical Studio. If I was going to side with it, I'd probably agree with your assessment.
I love this part from the rules "and the opportunity to ask questions if unsure, in the Contributions forum." I guess that part should be removed! You mean the replies only makes you more unsure? Kino BV and Disney are one and the same. BV only distributes films made by the Disney family of companies. They simply keep the distribution money in house instead of giving it to someone else. There's a llot more involved but that is the simple answer. They are unique in the film industry, or have been for the last 60 plus years. | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Since we are talking about the Orion catalog (which Orion is dead now) it seems simle to me. These were originally released by Orion to the theatrical audiance. So it should be Orion. WB if effectively just ditributing the DVD/Blu-ray and at the end credits effectively stating their ownership/rights. As I understand it, WB is mentioned in the actual film reel (end scroll). Otherwise I would agree with you. Actually I agree with you anyway, but I can see why some wouldn't. | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 | | | Last edited: by Nexus the Sixth |

I thnik at the very least for those that believe that WB is also a release studio, it should be second since thye were originally released by Orion theatrically |

I'm just trying to isolate this to function or form. You want form, I want function. So according to you, WB gets FIRST billing in Profiler, because they are in fact the theatrical release studio. Or at least a theatriclal release studio. Okay, I'm changing my poll vote accordingly. Not that it will help. | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 |

| Posted: | | | | Your answer regarding Orion is correct in that it is essentially dead. But Orion never did distribution or theatrical releasing in their own right. They were simply a production studio, they always had some one else handle the theatrical release (distribution) work. Typically it was either warner or Columbia. | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! Nothing wrong with a debate and difference of opinions imho. I'm not sure anymore... Back to it, where in the rules is it so clear? It's hard for that rule to less clear, unless some user wants to pretend. How many words in total three. The problem comes when someone wants to pretend, but then doesn't want ti listen to the explanations or even worse dismiss the well meaning advice of someone with a background in the rules, because they think they or someone else without back ground knows more. | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! Please state the rule that makes it so clear. Copy and paste or type them. If it's only three words then it will only take a matter of seconds to type. | Posted: | | | | Now Kino, one more note regarding bv. Remember that we have been and still are relatively limited in studio data. Due to the fact that BV is but an arm of the WDC and our own program limitations I viewed BV as repetitive data, more so today than in the oast since Disney often has multiple houses on a given film today, I would prefer to see us capture as much of that as possible, as opposed to shorting that data ti lust both BVD and WDP which are the same thing.
That was.my thinking 10 years ago and it still holds. | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here
