| Posted: | | | | The mango update has been approved and should now be on the Marketplace.
As listed earlier, the changes are: 1) Fix a bug in the storage system causing problems when the app is tumbstoned and reactivated. 2) Support for application switching without restarting the app (so native Mango behavior) 3) Support for saving a filter as a default filter (it will be applied automatically on each startup) 4) Smooth scrolling list of DVD's 5) Child profiles are now moved to the profile page - this simplifies the main list (no expand/collapse) 6) Pages without information are no longer displayed in the panorama. 7) A tad less memory is consumed (also helps with the Mango app switching).
I chose to release now instead of waiting for Live Tile support - better get these updates out now, instead of having everything waiting for a new feature.
Unfortunately this version will not show which profiles are box sets on the main list. The only reason for this is that I can't think of a nice way of showing this. Suggestions are welcome.
There is also an updated restifier plugin (you can find it in the download section here on invelos.com). It contains the following changes:
1) Works around a bug in the DVD Profiler API that can prevent all profiles from being synchronized. 2) Detects a profile has been moved from one collection to another, even if nothing else is changed in the profile.
Unfortunately using the new version will result in the wp7 app considering all profiles to have changed, and it will update them all the first time it synchronize (notice this is profile information only, not cover images).
The WP7 app works fine without updating the restifier plugin so you can update the app even if you do not want to update the Restifier plugin right away. | | | Regards Lars |

| Posted: | | | | I am not sure if it is distributed to all servers yet, but I can access it on the UK marketplace.
Notice it does require the Mango update though, I forgot to mention that - sorry. | | | Regards Lars |

I'm in Australia, and I haven't received notifications of the update yet via the Marketplace tile, however, when I searched for the app on my phone it said an update was available, so I am installing the update now. |

| Posted: | | | | I have installed the new version of the app. It works well. Here are some observations:
1. The web page for the Restifier plugin still shows version 1.0 (but version 1.1 actually downloads) 2. Scrolling is much smoother 3. On the old version, if there were no changes to profiles I often received an error. Now, the new version shows that there are no changes. This is great. 4. The font used on the Jump To buttons are rather small for my ageing eyes! 5. Box sets are an issue. If I want to look for "Patriot Games" I have to remember it is a part of the "Jack Ryan" collection. There doesn't seem to be a way of searching for it by it's name.
Still a great app. Thanks for creating this app. |

Oh, I forgot I put the version number there, thanks Quote:

Maybe get an HTC Titan I might be able to make the font a bit bigger. It has to leave room for a year though so there are limites to how much larger I can make it (I am probably a tad too lazy to change font size on each list to allow the ones with just a letter to use a larger font). Quote:

A search function would certainly be beneficial, but it is not trivial to make due to the box sets. The child profiles are kept out of the list to make it simpler (which helps scroll performance), but this means there really isn't any place to how the child profiles if I start filtering. Potentially I can just leave the parent profile in the list if a child profile match the search result... do you have any better suggestions on how this could be made? Quote:
Still a great app. Thanks for creating this app. You are welcome - it't luckily not that difficult to make an app like this for Windows Phone. Wouldn't touch it with the water from a remote controlled firehose on iPhone or even Android. | | | Regards Lars |

| Posted: | | | | Lars,
I do see an HTC Titan in my future, but not until my current contract expires in about 12 months (unless I get a good teal from my telco to change handsets). That should make the font on the JumpTo buttons better to see. In the meantime, I can see that making the font larger would cause a problem with the Year view. Could the year JumpTo buttons be 2 lines? For example: _____ | 20 | | 11 | -------
And as for Box Sets, I'll have to think a bit more on them. It's not really an issue with things like a TV series, but only for box sets that are a collection of movies. For example "The Elizabeth Taylor Signature Collection" which contains 4 of her movies. |

| Posted: | | | | The room over the year is already used - depending on your collection it can display parts of a year so you for example will see: q1 2011 feb 2003 Once i was using '83 instead of 1983 - I could protentially return to that, I just find it's not as nice looking (specifially '00 annoys me). There must also be some people with movies from 1919 or before, then they might end up with '10 at both ends of the list | | | Regards Lars |

There must also be some people with movies from 1919 or before, then they might end up with '10 at both ends of the list I didn't realise that the room over the year was already used as none of mine show anything there. And I agree that the '90-style looks just wrong. I guess I'll just wait until I get a Titan. In any case, I rarely use the year listing. I mainly use the list on my phone for checking what I already own when I'm out shopping. So my biggest issue is the box sets problem. I still don't have any ideas on how to make that problem go away, though. |

| Posted: | | | | Nice work!
One thing I would really like to see is linked cast & crew. That means I click on a cast member on one movie and get a list with all movies with this actor.
I always need that when I watch a movie and want to know where else this actor has played.
Is that possible? |

Is that possible? Yes, but it is an extremely big change, so not something that will happen any time soon. The app was originally developed for the pre mango version of Windows where there wasn't any database available. The entire storage layer would have to be changed to facilitate linking. | | | Regards Lars |
