Funny when I look at the data and the Cover art it says very clearly DVD SCREENER NOT FOR SALE OR RENTAL, their caps not mine, on the bottom of the FRONT cover.

Represent it any way you wish, Rick, the facts are the facts and Terry is exactly right.

Keep it local,, use Disc ID- make it a child, Lock it off ,, Don't contribute .. if we make this screener available , Invleos would have to make all screeners available and I don't want that either ..

Number one it's not a screener.
Number two, as has been said for three pages now, DVDs such as this are perfectly acceptable and there are many already accepted.
Number three, see number one and two

Number four, it is in the database, this is about an update to a profile that Invelos approved months ago.

But that is not what you are doing here!

You are voting no on an update to an approved profile!

I voted No to a profile that should NOT be in the database at all, approved or not. It's a screener, I may very well recommend a removal unless someone beats me to it, right now I have bigger fish to play with but I will get around to it. I can't vote yes to any form of update to a profikle which should not be there at all. Personally speaking,I would like it to be able to remain but Screeners are not allowed and for good reason, I will probably maintain my Profile locally, which is what I would recommend Ray or anyone else.

Skip, regarding your repeated argument that I am being "selfish" to include this title in the database when it might draw the attention of Paramount and put an end to similar productions: DVDProfiler is nothing more than a way for people to know what DVDs they own. It is not like we are entering the title into Walmart's database or giving it a UPC for sale. We are simply documenting that this DVD is in the collection of some users of the program, nothing more nothing less. This is hardly something unknown to Paramount. This particular film is not some underground illegal parody using elements of the original, unlike when Lucas goes after "mashups" of Star Wars material. It is a fully legal indie film production involving many of the actors from the Star Trek series. There is no attempt to keep its existence a secret. Paramount is surely aware of it, and the fact that free DVDs are being distributed by the producers. That is quite publicly stated all over the website of this film. Having it be in Profiler only means that some of those DVD giveaways have made it into the hands of the public. That is hardly anything unexpected by Paramount or anyone for that matter. Paramount may have indeed required some statement about the DVD not being for sale or rental on the cover. The fact that the producers chose to use the word screener in their disclaimer does not mean this is a screener in the sense that the term has been used by other studios nor in the sense that it has been accepted that such screeners should not be in Profiler. This is a whole different situation as the screener is not a promo with restricted distribution to select individuals within the trade only. It is only a screener the way all the freebie DVDs given out with magazines, cereal, etc are or the season preview DVDs are.

Skip might have a very valid point here.
I would not want screeners to flood the database.

BTW: The profile has at least one obvious error: The cover states that this DVD is neither for sale not for rental. How comes it has an SRP then?
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

I received from Pizza Hut,  years ago a stripped down version of Weekend at Bernies.,
( it was free with an Order)., It was not in anamorphic widescreen, nor did it have the same menu options as the regular version. It just had play and scene index,  no subtitles,.& no FBI warning/.

The dvd was produced thru  Asset Digital Productions. and the silk screened label said Not for sale or rental on the rim.
The dvd came in a paper sleeve.. So you are all saying that this would be a candidate for approval If I submit??

I don't think so ....

I honestly don't see why it can't if it's a legitimate release?

After all, as is pointed out at others time and time again, this is a DVD profiler, not a movie profiler.

Because it is a SCREENER and we do not accept Screeners, Sam. It should NEVER have been accepted into the system but as noted many times the people who accept or decline such things do not have perfect knowledge of everything, it happens, it needs to be removed from the Online. We also do not accept bootlegs or locally produced of DVDs of let's say your wedding...no one else in the world is probably interested in yours OR mine, lol...definitely not mine, even if we could deal with that the database would quickly become cluttered with such things.  There is no reason why a title such as this could be maintained locally and should be. This is one of those things that does not make me happy, because I enjoy these production but that's the way it is.

Why not?

What good is a DVD Profiler when you can't submit legitimate DVD's?
