I too hate the stickers that leave residue and have had my share of trouble with them I have 2 other pet peeves of a similar type I would like to share:

1. The lousy plastic wrap that ends up stuck to the spine of the DVD and comes off in little strips and leaves lots of itself behind......it drives me nuts! I end up having to take out the cover and view the spine in the light so I can see what is left. Particularly bad for 20th Century Fox titles it seems.

2. The little black rectangular anti-theft devices they stick on TV Box Set packaging that is digipak cardboard/paper (i.e. Friends) that rips the top layer off if you try to remove it. Not a problem with the slim keep cases they usually use now because its usually on the hard plastic inside the last slim case.

I usually have a half dozen or so keep cases from Staples, CompUSA, etc. on hand to replace the original DVD cases.  If there's too much adhesive tht I can't remove - or bits of shrink wrap clinging to the spine - I'll just throw it away and replace it with one of my "spares."

This is also helpful for damaged hubs - ones that won't hoid the disc properly.  I figure that it's worth a buck or so for me to have a keep case that looks better than the one the DVD came in.

I used to keep a pack or three of the DVD keeper cases on hand for that problem but now I can't find them anywhere, except online and I don't want to buy 100 of 'em. But I've had great luck with tape and WD-40, too.

Nope,,  scratch that they now have the type of tops you can open with your hands..
Bottle of Wine?? nope they are all going to screw tops now.

Then they have the audacity to put THREE,,, count em, 3 plastic adhesive strips on each side of the DVD to ensure you don't open the disc in the store and then try and get the disc out for theft and for what ?  a $10 disc??  A $10.00 pack of whatever's would be easier to steal..

Once home it is an all day affair for me to open and get three DVD's ready for viewing 'cause it takes me almost all day to get those @#$!*  stickers off  in that time.

I usualluy buy 5 packs of Memorex from Office Depot -- I've found that while they are a little more expensive they are usually in good shape. They also have double keep case for those 2-disc DVDs.

I'm glad too that I'm not the only one annoyed by those 2 issues --- would you be up for picketing the production facility where these atrocities are being perpetrated?

Try Staples online (or Office Depot, CompUSA, etc.)  They should have DVD cases in quanties smaller than 100 (Staples has 10 packs for 8.98 and 25 packs for $17.98)

I've got a spray can of stuff my wife bought at a Quilt Shop. You spray it on let it set and then wipe it off. Works real well on cases both plastic and paper.

If Goo Gone ruined your cases, you are using WAY too much.  You don't need any more than you can put on a Q-tip - lightly moistened - then let it sit for a few minutes and gently use a lint free cloth to wipe up the Goo and the softened tape residue.  You may need to do it a second time.

Like I said, I've used this stuff for years, and never had a problem with damaging any cases in that time.
