Taking a youthful view of the person in question is fine and it'll be accepted automatically if there is no other photos.

Besides, from my understanding, the photos from 1915-1940 are rare to begin with and typically feature the actor or actress in their prime.  I'm good with that.

Well, don't get too excited there.  I loved the update, but it's hardly limited to that timeframe.  The file was about 65 mb compressed and seemed to contain every actor in the book.  It took me 2 1/2 hours to do the comparison.  Lots of nice finds in there but it's certainly not limited to golden oldies.

After reading your post, it dawned on me that I made a mistake in the creation sequence on the first page of this thread. I have removed the original 65MB file and substituted this corrected archive, which comes in at only 9MB. Now, they are all from the time period mentioned.

Sorry, mdnitoil for the mistake. Sorry if I wasted 2 1/2 hours of your life.

It was my first attempt at this.

I suspect the answer is obvious, but just to be clear:

The photos from the 9 MB version are also in the 65 MB version, right?

Correct.

When I originally made the DB, I forgot to clean out all the other actors & crew members from my complete DB.

Now it's just the C & C from the years stated.

Hey, no problem.  I wasn't complaining.  Once I saw the filesize I knew I was in for a long session.  I was just alerting other folks so they knew what they were in for.  Still lots of good stuff in there.

I can imagine, thank you, agian, for your time and work!

I consider myself fast when importing databases (it only took me about an hour for the 65MB file, using the keys "A" and "K" really saves time...), but I'm sure you have some much bigger collections to import from people who gave you their complete headshot database...

By the way, my headshot database (actors.blb) is now close to 470MB... and I think the finished V5 will be around this size, too.

Just finished up to 1949 in my collection. The day after I uploaded my last update I stumbled upon 2 blog sites that had a boatload of great images. So I went back and replaced some of the images in my last set.

If you downloaded the previous set you may want to download these new ones. I broke them up by decade to make them smaller.

http://rapidshare.com/files/266970967/1915-1929.dpb  2.2MB

http://rapidshare.com/files/266971321/1930-1939.dpb  6.2MB

http://rapidshare.com/files/266760241/1940-1949.dpb  8.4MB

The 40's are my largest decade, so from here out, the file size should start to decrease slightly.

Thanks for your contributions. One question/remark though, is it possible you have some unapproved Birth Years in your updates?

I didn't see anything about birth years on the first page guidelines of this thread, so I didn't pay attention to it.

After reading your post I went through all three databases and found incorrect birth years for three different actors in the first two DB's.

I have since fixed them and uploaded corrected DB's.

That is a good remark, Antares.

Dr. Killpatient, could you add a note to the 2nd post to remove invalid BY's from the contributions.

Personally, I removed a few more BY's from your update

John Anderson
Lew Ayres
Lon Chaney
Gary Cooper
Harold Goodwin
Creighton Hale
Tom Kennedy
Tyrone Power
Joe Roberts
Michel Simon
James Stewart

These are the ones I believe to be unnecessary. At least, I couldn't find them in the BY thread, and I didn't have multiple actors of those names in my personal DB.

Anyway, a big thanks Antares, your additions are most welcome.

I can't currently edit those posts.  V4 had BY's that Invelos allowed to be contributed at the time.  v5 will have only those in the BY thread.
