My big thing is misrepresenting  the data which this'd does BIG TIME.

Actually, it misrepresents the facts if you imply these these actors appear in an animated film.

Many animated films simply have the heading of "cast" for that section of the credits, rather than "voices" or "voice talents".  I just finished auditing a traditional animated film (cel animation - Venus Senki if you care) and the two main headings are "Cast" and "Staff."

Perhaps we need a button for "motion capture" in the future, which would allow the tracking of actors who provide the live-action portions, and therefore with something like Tintin we could therefore have people who have both "voice" and "motion capture" checked off, but right now I don't see any way, according to the rules, that you wouldn't check "voice" for the movie.
If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.

Just to clear up Questions about look of film

Here is a picture of Jamie and Andy during capture

Here are the Characters

While I would agree, it would be nice to have a separate entry for Motion Capture.  The motion capture artist and the voice are not necessarily the same.

Given that, this is an animated film, they get a voice check box..

I was just about to make a similar post, Charlie...you don't see Jamie or Andy on screen.  You see the characters created by the animators, and hear the voices supplied by Jamie and Andy.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

One thing to point out is data consistancy.  The database does not currently support motion capture.  If and when it does it can be adddressed then, or a ruling from Ken.  In the mean time we need  to follow the rules for the online database.  And yes if it is ever supported there will be profiles to correct to the new standard.  but those profiles will be easier to find and correct if the data is consistant.

We have had the same issue with 3D.  In 3.8 at least 3D will be corrected (according to Ken).  In the mean time with 3D we have been getting by based on the current rules and rulings from Ken to keep the data consistant.  We should do the same with this for the online database.  Always rememebr you can contribute them as voice and then change htem how you want locally.

So I agree that the rules should be followed and put them in as voice.  In addition make the concerns of motion capture aware to those that can see if Ken wants to make a ruling.

As it is now, and until Ken or invelos clarify or change the rules, the voice box gets ticked.

It might be a good idea to post this in the requests thread if one would like to see the rules changed.

But, until that occurs, the rules on this are quite clear and anything other than ticking the voice box needs to be kept local.

Skip,

If you want to bend the rules because this is misrepresenting the data, doesn't that come dangerously close to the dreaded "using common sense"?
