I do have the files all ripped to my computer just in case mine ever dies, although I'm beginning to think I got lucky and got a copy from another factory that will survive. It was a couple years back at least where I was reading about most copies not working.
I think demand would/should be much higher for this, but the average dvd buyer probably doesn't know about it being censored or that an un-censored version ever existed. It took a while to hunt that down, and that was in 2003 when I got mine from ebay. I still have never seen a copy of this one in any store, and I always check the backs for the second red banner (when I see snappers, now I only see it in keepcase so I don't have to bother checking). Just sucks that when it finally hits blu it will more than likely be censored. I doubt they'll drop lots of coin to show the statue, or even know if that is an option after the lawsut over the first dvds.

You know, I haven't bothered to check. I just picked them up because I knew they were OOP. I should give them a spin to see what's what.

Didn't know about the Angel set. Just watched that the other night and dug it all over again. Don't think I'd sell it (unless it's coming out on Blu).

Yeah, those screens are the same changes, but you can tell without even watching the disc.

The back cover is easiest to spot. Common has a black background and a red box with the features listed.
The old one has a second red box between the film credits and small print stating "the large white sculpture...not endorsed...Ex Nihilo

There's also some numbering on the disc itself. On the bottom in small print, it starts with 15090, Region 1, 144 Mins, etc. The reissues have a different number in this spot, although I can't recall what it is right now. You can also make out this number in the inner layer rings on the back center of the disc. One is backwards, the other forwards but reads "15090V2.1.A", which I have no idea what it means. I thought maybe layer 2, but the other backwards one is 15090V2.1.B. That "V2" sounds wrong but it is the right disc to have, or maybe it was due to the lawsuit and them getting ok'd the release a certain ammount uncensored, but knowing the common would be edited. i don't have a common one to compare to.

With Star Wars Blu-rays coming out, I realized I have the Original Trilogy DVD set (with the original theatrical releases) which is now OOP. On Amazon's Third Party, it's going for $126 new and $90 used. Now I wish I had picked up an extra copy at Wal Mart to sell since I only paid $36...

Was doing a little checking and noticed that I had some off-beat stuff that seems to be commanding stupid prices.  I'm a sucker for any Hollywood/studio history stuff.  It appears when this stuff goes out of print, the value just skyrockets.  For example:

I find this stuff far more interesting because there is every reason to believe material like this will never make it's way to Blu, or streaming for that matter.

Like everyone else, I've got the usual stack of Paramount and MGM titles that have gone out of print over the years since I've been collecting along with the handful of OOP Criterions.
