No, not really.  There are currently ideas going into production that will allow crops to be grown in greenhouse skyscrapers that take up little actual land space. It's called innovation, and if we'd move a little quicker we could get past our long overdue love for petroleum. There are many ideas indeed. Many of these alternatives how ever are still not as cheap as investing in less developed country's. You can't just turn round and say build a 100 eco skyscrapers in the Nevada desert cause that would be communism. I wish we did live in a world with Star Trek styled new world economy but we don't. As far as BP's progress has been thus far, I wouldn't doubt that at all.
The "estimated" spill flow rate has also been raised to around 60,000 barrels per day. How large is this oil field we've drilled into in the first place? I've still never seen any estimated figures on that. | | | | Corey |
