In this thread,  74 against 21 users refused a modification of rules to allow to interpret them in case of odd situations.

In this thread, 62 against 4 users chose to violate rules to manage an odd situation.

Where is logic and consistency ? Must rules, which are written in black or white with no shade of grey, be followed blindly, or is anyone allowed to interpret them as he wants when he wants ?

Don't get it wrong, it is not my intention to be rude, but this whole thread will go down the drain (as did a lot before).
If you *really* want to get Ken to pay attention to your ideas, then you maybe should send him a PM or open a support ticket.

In the end it is never about logic, it is about how Ken wants it. And I can live with that.

Again, this is in no way meant personal against you, Surfeur51, sometimes I like your ideas, sometimes I don't, and I will not take position on this topic, as all of this has been discussed before.

And now I can only hope that a forum moderator closes this thread before it get worse...

Please stop rewriting history.  The users did not make this decision, Ken did.  Most of us, myself included, were on your side during this debate.  Ken, for his own reasons, chose to go in a different direction.

And without England there would be no Scotland.

Don't know where your getting that from cause actually there's a lot more in history to suggest Scotland has made a lot more of a contribution to England.

Since this thread obviously is now just about complete nonsense and tasteless racistic statements:

Please correct your error:

The point, Skip Jr., is that your anti-American statements is as retarded as Skip's anti-French statements. Both are pointless, racist, ignorant rhetoric.

You both need to get your heads out of your respective country's bums.

Yes I have. That's why you don't see me slamming them. Because I've left my home town of Mayberry. You have no point on this, I assure you.

What difference does it make? I don't slam other countries here like you or Skip. If you want to find out bad enough, work for it. I posted where I've been.

James:

I did not attack France, i stated a fact. If you pick any given, for agument's sake, let's pick on CE3K, there is a lot of crossover data and a LOT of it originates in France. This is true of of most any title you pick and actually review the crossover data. Now, yes it is possible, that France gets a different credit list, we know that, but it happens so frequently when i review the crossover data that i think their data should be reviewed by them and brought in line or verified as being different, such work would be useful to all of us and help the CLT to become more useful, the same I suspect is probably true of Hispanic actors, for example there is a lot of crossover on Luis Guzmán, that probably has its own set of origins.
Ken has repeatedly said we are not after the "correct" name but the MOST COMMONLY CREDITED name. And for now that is what we have. I have noproblem if Ken wants to allow "correct" names with documentation, of course as long as the Credited As remains as it is ACTUALLY seen with the adjustment for caps.

Now I know those users that say whose standard caps. But if we apply the standard caps of the locality we have the same hodge podge of CLT data that we have now. I like to ghave a linking system too, as long as everybody is working fromone page and not a different page deopending on whoever's ego we are trying to assuage. Right now the CLT is near useless and it doesn't have to be so. Now what standard would I apply for caps, simple the program is US based, not Paris, Berlin or Tokyo, so we follow US standard caps and allow for the use of "correct" name with documentation.
This has NOTHING to do with me being an American, it is a simple statement of where the program  is based, if the Program were based in Berlin I would be saying we should follow standard cap Rules for the German language but its not and all I am trying to establish hers is ONE single page that everybody follows, otherwise our linking system is NEVER EVER going to function properly. I am trying to takle as objective a view and neutral view as i can, it is not I who is saying  but i am from here and WE do it this way.

As I have said before when i am dealing with a french film and french Credits you don't hear me or see me bawling about a credit that says FRANÇOIS, if someone tried to tell me it should be Francois in lower case, i would tell them they were crazy, that isn't what the data says. I never have a problem entering foreign credits, except for those occassions when we run into those characters that the program doesn't handle properly, then utter a few words under my breath, write down a personal note about it and patiently wait for the day when the program will recognize the correct data.

This is caused by the international nature of the program and because we do not have an Online where each Regional database is isolated  and independent of every other, and i think this is the correct approach BTW, then of necessity we need a single unifying system and this silly nationalistic quibbling is counter productive. Ken merely is trying to establish a single page we all work from and I support the concept, as long as we have a database that encompasses all, as it should, then if one locality wants to go off and do its own thing, that has a negative impact on everyone else. I remember once doing some work with the FAA and i never once encountered a problem where someone was insisting that things had to be done in his native tongue, the language of Flight Controllers worldwide and pilots is English, one standard, I don't who set it or why, I don't care but it would be chaos in the air if multiple languages were used. When I fly into Orly the pilots and the Controllers are speaking to each other in English, even if they are both French, and the system works. We aren't really all that different.

Well your statement on bulletpoint review that Scotland is third world country leads my to believe that you haven't been any where further than Canada.

I have been to many countrys in Europe and America. I took a trip along the east coast and many of the citys that i encountered there i hope i never experience again cause frankly in comparison  to places like Denmark and Norway two countrys i have had the pleasure of visiting.

Your country can't hold a candle to them. Of course as individuals i know a lot of rather nice Americas. But collectively and in comparison to where i live and the other places i have seen.

I rather not be in America.

Well it gets you a red too.
