Yes, I'd say that I actually purchased fewer DVD's in 2009 also.

I guess that's partly since I upgraded to Blu-ray in late 2008, and DVD's just don't interest me as much these days unless I really, really want/need them; or they're not released on Blu.

Due to that, at least I've caught up on unwatched titles significantly over the last year!

I bare bought anything in 2006 due to being unemployed most of the year and the imminent arrival of high-def formats. I got a Blu-ray player in late 2007, but due to the expense of Blu-ray at the time, didn't buy too many titles. The same was true of 2008 up until Black Friday, when the sales were nuts. This year, I was back in full form.

My problem is that I am a completist when it comes to film series. I even buy sequels that completely suck just in order to have the complete series. It is a sickness I can't cure...

You're referring to the Marx Brothers, correct? Someone (and I copied it) once wrote that even the bad Marx Brothers films were better that most everyone else's good films. As James Agee wrote "the worst they might ever make would be better worth seeing than most other things I can think of."

Anyone who'd buy Terminator 3 just to be complete is truly sick (please don't look at my online collection).
If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

Cliff

Hello. My name is Cliff and I'm addicted to buying DVDs (and now starting on the hard stuff, Blu-ray).
If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

You call that an addiction? I've bought over 40 Blu-rays in 1 day.   In 3 1/2 years since the start of Blu-ray/HD DVD, I've purchased over 1,600 titles with no end in sight.  I have 48 titles in my ordered, but waiting delivery status.

I'm buying Blu-ray SteelBooks left and right that I will never watch (because I have those movie in regular cases already).  I've bought 8 different copies of Terminator 2.  I really need help.

Think of it as a religion instead of an addiction
1. Invelos is your only DVD collection program
2. You shall have no other DVD collection programs before it
3. Remember the Tuesday, just maybe a new program update
4. You shall honor the contribution rules
5. You shall honor the forum rules
6. You shall not contribute data from IMDB
7. You shall not ccontribute any media other than DVDs
8. You shall not contribute bootlegged DVDs
9. You shall not bear false witness of your contribution data
10. You shall not covet your neighbor's collection
We don't need stinkin' IMDB's errors, we make our own.
Ineptocracy, You got to love it.

Hmmmm, much in the same vein, let's try and define some Deadly DVDP Sins:
1. Lust: the display of unrestrained enjoyment of adult movie titles in public collection listings
2. Gluttony: excessive enjoyment of watching the contents of shiny little discs on large screens
3. Greed: excessive desire and pursuit of large collections of shiny discs, especially of exclusive gift sets
4. Sloth: the failure to contribute to the holy grail of DVDP land: the Invelos database
5. Wrath: resorting to insults of fellow users on Invelos forums - recently prone to evoke moderator action
6. Envy: jealousy of a fellow user's reputation status
7. Pride: claiming to be superior and closer to Father Ken than fellow users and belittling fellow users' input.
